Power up this Snorlax?

This is by far my best Snorlax. Should I invest in this, or wait for a better one?

I like Heavy Slam better than Hyper Beam.

I wouldn't because he does not have any stab move. Personally, i don't like Heavy Slam, but considering that your only choices regarding Charge Moves are HB, HS or Earthquake and you don't like HB, go ahead.

ZH/Heavy Slam is currently the best defensive moveset.

I'm planning to power up my 89% one with this moveset. You obviously haven't fought against a high level Heavy Slam Snorlax yet.

HB wins DPS wise. Check the spreadsheets for technical stuff, find one with HB for rral life scenario. Dodge HB, still stings. Don't dodge, chunks away massive HP.

Spreadsheets are just numbers that are static. They don't take into account the actual battle and trying to dodge Heavy Slam.

People are too quick to write off Heavy Slam.

And you disregard the other point of my post. Try battling a HB Snorlax. He has the stamina to tank moves and release one or a couple before fainting and it hurts more than HS even when dodged or not plus where did I "write off" Heavy Slam? I even said to power it up because it's a decent moveset.

Well... It has ZH so it will deal a decent amount of damage before fainting. HS replaced BS so still an awesome move for Snorlax.

I definitely would. I have one heavy slam snorlax and a couple earthquake and hyper beam ones. My heavy slam one has a very low iv so I never powered it up. But I'd much rather have heavy slam then HB or EQ

I think everyone is too far down on HB as a Snorlax charge move because it is so bad for Dragonite. But Snorlax benefits from STAB with HB, and also since Snorlax is much tankier, he will deploy HB more times than Dragonite during a battle. Even if you dodge HB (which you should), it still stings.

IMO hyber beam is the best currently available.

To answer the original question...

You have a ton of Snorlax candy (and this is your best?) so candy isn't a problem. But you are pretty low on stardust and this would eat up most of it.

I would probably wait if you can. If you get lucky and hatch a Lax, he will be much higher level than this one. And once you know more about gym rework, you may not want to power up this Snorlax given that it will take most of your stardust.

Seriously though...how do you have over 200 candy, and this is "by far" your best Snorlax?

I've walked with Snorlax from the Buddy System arrived until gen. 2 arrived and Chansey was more important. That on top that, I've never powered up a Snorlax. Hatched 3 since July, all with Lick and below 80%...

At least, it hits super effective damage into Tyranitar.

That is true. However Tyranitar also resists ZH. And effective without stab isn't much. Still it is the best available moveset and a good one at that.

Yes that is a good defender with great ivs so yes absolutely

For defense only a legacy moveset is better. If you're concerned about dust use as prestiger.

I'd power him up! I had an almost identical Snorlax, except with Body Slam. He was caught at level 10, now at CP 3197. Heavy Slam not quite as good but still pretty decent, hard to dodge.

how many candies do you have?
enough to bring him to lev.33 in one single time?
if yes, maybe power up
