Power up legacy Dragonite or evolve a new on?

I don't get many dratinis here but I was able to catch a Dragonite a while ago around 1000 CP and 38% IVs for my Pokédex. It has dragon breath hyperbeam and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to power it up to or just evolve a new one. The candy cost is about the same for either but I would be risking a worse move set if I evolve. What do you guys think?

IMO Definitely evolve a new one, thats shitty IV and a meh moveset. Especially for 1000 CP? I have evolved Dragonairs with better CP >_>

Ivs aren't very good, and I personally wouldn't power up anything that low (CP and IVs). Might be a different story if it was DB/DC, but I'd just try to evolve a new one with DT-Outrage.

The old DB sets are much more durable, as you can dodge the defender's quick moves much easier; however, the DPS is slightly less when you're only dodging charge moves.

Possibly if it makes your life easier. Let me ask you do you enjoy using Rhydon? That's what the new DT feels like. Outrage I'm sure feels alof like DP. I don't enjoy using a slow Nite so if you had extra dust and candies to spare yeah go for it. I'd have to also add I'm a huge DB fan so sorry if I'm giving bad advice. IVs are whatever for it but you're not gonna stick it in a gym anyways.

In real-world battle scenarios, DB/DC is still the best Dragonite moveset for attacking. DT movesets are going to leave you susceptible to soaking up damage, and the long cooldown of Outrage is difficult to weave effectively without energy waste + and with effective dodging.

Yeah it sucks that the closest we can come to a DB/Outrage Dragonite is a DB/Outrage Kingdra. I would of loved that combo.

In your case I won't spent any dust on it. I also have 145 candies but I might save my candies to power up my legacy nite. It's 80% DB/DC A15 D10 S11

I would recommend investing in any good IV DB-DC Dragonites you've got from before Gen2. Still the best moveset, and you can easily dodge everything and melt multiple mons in gyms.

Just use it as-is for prestiging. It's a good attacking moveset, and IV doesn't really matter if that's how you use it. Maybe throw a few candies at it to kick it up to the 1200 range if you can afford it after evolving a new dragonite.

I have the same dilemma. I have a low-ish IV/CP DB/DP Dragonite. I never see Dratini in the wild, so debating powering this legacy one up. I also have a SW/HB as well (low IV/CP)
