Power up 100% SW/HB Dragonite or evolve 84% level 30 dratini?

I got extremely lucky and got a level 5, 100% IV dratini, but when I evolved it to dragonite it got Steel Wing/Hyper Beam. I believe it is nearly the worst moveset, and I already have a 73% 3070 cp SW/HB dragonite.

I caught an 84% IV level 30 dratini, so do you think it is better to take a chance on a better moveset on the already leveled up dratini with decent IVs, or power up a 100% level 5 Dragonite (483 cp) which will cost more in dust but slightly less than 125 candy?

Evolve.
No doubt.
You will save a lot of dust and could get a better moveset. Nice trade for a few candies.

Completely agree--your stardust and Dratini candy will be better spent on a Dragonite with an excellent moveset, not SW/HB.

I'd evolve for... plenty of reasons. Too lazy to elaborate. I'll go back to lurking in the shadows of this Q & A.

Sorry to hear that. Getting a 100% Dragonite with a good moveset is like winning the game to me. I would wait until Easter, then evolve the 84%

With Dratini being a common hatch now, you may eventually get enough to max the 100% one's CP for an unreal gym placement in a rural area that's not touched much.

Ya, i agree having a Drany 100 DT/O is ideal dream of any trainners.
P/S: i get only 1 Drany 87 (12/14/13) DT/O but i hope i could have Mmmore :3

Yes, I have the same thing - 100% dragonite with identical moveset. It's been worth it to me to upgrade, because if it gets into a strong gym, it's not going anywhere because it's always first or second (it's currently at 3249 - I could evolve it a little more due to leveling up, but it's been in a gym for a month, lol). And if you get into a gym with a bunch of dragonites, many folks seem to run out of good opponents.

As long as CP is almost the only interesting parameter for gym defenders, the 100%-Dragonite can get a real top position in a gym, area independent.
So ignoring the moveset and just taking it to max-level will be an option. As it sits at the highest spot in gym, attacker will not have to battle it often, so moveset is not real important.

If you are looking for an attacker instead of a defender, better evolve another one.

You got a 100% dragonite! No dragonite can sit higher in a gym when you max this mon out.
Stardust is generated by grinding, it is one of the few items in this game that is not RNG.
Spending stardust on a 100% dragonite is in the "f-yeah!" column of what to spend it on.

Power that 100% dragonite and don't look back.
