Potential Exploitable Issue with Motivation

So given the new motivation gym system, I feel there is an obvious exploitable issue for botters/multiple account spoofers. In theory, botters would be able to constantly feed berries and lock down a gym for as long as the want (likely the maximum time for rewards). With 10s of accounts feeding berries and farming Pokestops this seems like it would be pretty easy for them.

A simple fix would be a maximum number of berries fed per gym/pokemon/day.

Overall I like the new system and am excited to see how things play out!

Thoughts?

Battle the gym. If Motivation of a defending pokemon does not go down with nobody near, there must be a spoofer. Report this incident.

Haha true, I'm not trying to imply I want to go on a witch hunt. Just thinking about what kind of new challenges we may face with the new system.

Maybe they aren't spoofers. They might be team rocket using a crazy and dangerous technology again.

I see a different problem. Imagine your pokemon is in a gym and is the first to be battled, and its motivation is low. Rather than waste berries, you switch to a different account to knock it out, then power it back up and replace it on top.

Very true! One benefit is that this seems a little more cumbersome and less beneficial than shaving was previously.

Plus I suppose "victimless", as in the end nobody has been removed from the gym.

It is still not clear to me if people will simply be able to add pokemon to a gym to prevent it from going down as opposing teams are battling it. Hopefully they won't be able to do that.

They should just make something like this:
X are the minutes defended.
Y are the cents curved by minutes defended, A PokéCents equals B PokéCoins.
Y=X^2=A

Let's say if A=1200, B=1.

You can earn 1 PokéCoin in 34.641 minutes, then another one in 14.349 minutes, and another one in 11.010 minutes, but they have to be continuous.

If you shave your Pokémon every 15 minutes, you can still get the cents changed into PokéCoins, but only one will be gotten after 83.660 minutes (at minimum, not counting shaving time) in the first cycle. That won't be worth it.

This could be adressed with the 10 minutes from faint till new placement too.

There hasn't been an answer to that question yet.
What happens if a mon is either kicked from a gym in battle or leaves due to not being fed? Does that slot become available for anyone on that team to take? Does that slot go away? There is no prestige, so you can't 'build' the gym back up in order to claim that slot.

I've asked this in a few different threads here, and noone has come up with an answer.

According to NianticGeorge (he wasn't 100% sure) the monster has to be kicked out and there's a 10 minute wait for anyone to put a pokémon back in the gym.

Well, that should at least cut back on gym shaving. Making the shaver wait 10 minutes to take a slot after they already had to defeat the mon will at least make it uncomfortable.

I worry about a bigger exploitable aspect with these proposed "gym raids". It has been said you need a "raid ticket" to participate (which you get through spinning?) and only a certain amount of slots exist (20?) to participate in said raid (and be able to catch a strong pokemon afterwards). Will the spoofers be able to instantly lock up all the slots for these raids when the timer to start hits zero while legitimate players standing out on the street near the gym are left hanging?

Multiple raids will be able to occur. So even if you had 80 people, everyone could participate in 4 or more raids. But spoofers will be able to jump around to the best ones probably.

It appears that multiple teams can fight the raid boss simultaneously. The boss stays there for an hour, so anyone who shows up can get on a team. Also, there are private and public teams, so if you show up with a group of friends, you can make your team private.

Plus, with the new announcement from NianticGeorge, it seems like they are taking action against spoofers!!!!!!

Do we know what the limits are on supplying defenders with berries currently?
I believe the APK mine found entries that appear to be related to this very issue.

I am going to wait until I know what features the new system has, before I start suggesting fixes for those features.

Good find! I skipped over that in the APK mine the first time, my bad. This question is pointless now. Good to see they are thinking ahead!
