PokeTrack & PokeAlert question

I have been trying out PokeTrack and PokeAlert. I have some questions regarding the apps, and would like some answers from those who use them.

Are they running at the background? How to turn the background scanning on/off. When I select both "IV" and "Notify/Sound", are they gonna notify based on the IV threshold? or the IV feature and notify feature are two different thing. How to reduce the Captcha incidences? Use less IV detection? What does the scanning interval mean? Which one do you think is the best.

I hate reading posts like this in this forum. Nothing personal, but it just irks me.... It's like asking what is the best way to spoof and find the best pokemon, or how do I bot and not get locked out so many times. Just don't..... I know a lot of people are using those apps, but I like pretending nobody in GP does it...

I think both group of people, using or not using, are understandable. They are just playing two different games.

Exactly. I look at it kind of like a treasure hunt. Scan for rare pokemon and then sprint between them. And it gives no real benefit over normal play other than reducing the amount grinding needed for getting rare or high IV pokemon.

ummm, where are the gyms reserved for non-cheaters? If we were playing different games, why do we have to compete in the same gyms?

Hah yea. I made that fake question a week ago asking how players get such awesome Pokemon. I actually didn't expect so many to respond with the answers I got.

The best was "know your area, ask people, grind hard, watch trainer tips, and use tracker"

Didn't people get banned for using PokeAlert?

  1. There's a button for background scanning. Looks like a radar.
  2. You set a threshold for IVs and then it notifies whenever that kind of pokemon spawns with above that threshold. You can set separate thresholds for separate species of pokemon.
  3. Don't scan too often and use lots of dummy accounts (so the same ones aren't constantly scanning). For a radius of 300 meters (size 4, I think) I recommend 50+.
  4. Scanning interval is the time between completed scans. I recommend setting this to 5min to reduce number of captchas.
  5. I couldn't get Poketrack to work, so I don't know.

@niantic:

could you please check the network-adresses and compare it with the accounts? It should be possible to check, if multiple requests from multiple different accounts are sent from one device. Then just look througth those accounts, on of them has a great amount of high-iv-high-tier-pkm. This is cheating account, it can be banned without a problem, to the great pleasure of all players.
Maybe there could be a device-ban too. If a cheater simply buys a new level-35-account and continues his game, he should be urged to buy a new mobile phone too.
