pokestops turning to gym: about 10%?

It seems to me about 10% of pokestops in my area are turning to gym. That makes something like 20-30% more gyms.

Do you see the same thing?

Nothing close to those numbers around here I don't think.

Where are you that you see this?

I am in downtown Denver and I see about 5 new stops within sight distance near Union Station but if it was 10% I would see like 30 new stops at least.

I am hoping you are in a suburban or rural area that needs more gyms so that you have a better chance. But in my urban area not near 10%

Here in my city we have 3 pokestops and one gym only. I really hope that this number increase soon. It makes really hard to play and enjoy the game fully

There are 36 stops I can see from my house. 3 have turned into gyms. Making a total of 8 gyms.

my town has 10 stops and 2 gyms on the main road (an ingress player had a friend here he visited) 1 stop has turned into a gym.

i'd say about so, but i am really unsure of their criteria - loads of out-of-town stops remain as is but in city centre i've seen a stop almost on top of a gym itself become a gym. mostly new gyms are on crossroads for me so i'd bet they were just randomly chosen with user heatmaps/footfall in mind

Only one stop turned to a gym here unfortunately. But maybe the 10% isn't that far off, because we certainly didn't have 20 stops. More like 14.

10 % would be about right for my part of town. As mentioned earlier in this thread: Some are placed next to an existing gym, so they form sets of two.

ok, so ~10% seems plausible for most.
From where I am now, I cold see 65 stops and 8 gyms. 6 stops turned to gyms, so almost 10%. Gym/stop ratio now 0.24 (was 0.12).

It looks like they are distributed randomly.

In one of my towns biggest cluster of gyms and stops, one pokestop got turned into a gym and a new stop was added.

from my home i noticed 3 new gyms where there were stops. 2 are right next to established gyms

Our town went from 9 gyms to 11.

From my home, 68 stops and 8 turned into Gyms. This keeps to the 10%+/- conversion rate, but more than doubles the gym concentration (previously 5 visible). I'm in Seattle.
