Pokemon GO Social Movement #FixTheGyms
It's been almost a year now. Since the beginning of the new gym system, trainers from everywhere have been complaining to Niantic. But Niantic still didn't bring any change to this terrible gym system. I know that Pokémon GO currently has tons of problems but gym battles are the heart of this game and so the gym system is the first thing that needs to be fixed. If the gym battles are fixed first, we can finally have some 'fun' while they fix the other problems.
Okay, lets explain first. Niantic changed the old gym system for 2 reason. Firstly, they removed the duplicate Pokémon from gyms to get rid of Blissey Towers and seeing separate Pokémon on each gym slot. Almost everyone agrees that this was a BRILLIANT change to the game. Almost nobody has any problems with the removal of duplicate Pokémon. Secondly, because of the CP-wise gym positioning trainers only sent high CP Pokémon to the gyms. And so, some low CP Pokémon who actually defend well (ex. Steelix, Muk) were left out. Trainers never cared about good defenders. All they cared about was 3k+CP Pokémon. So to bring more diversity in the gyms, Niantic removed the CP-wise positioning. Untill this point, everything looks good. But the new gym system introduced the gym motivation. And high CP Pokémon lose motivation quicker. Niantic, have you gone MAD? To get rid of a High-CP based gym system, you brought a Low-CP based gym system. So, it's still a CP based gym system. The new system also saw the introduction of Golden berries. So what happened? In the old system, trainers never cared about good defenders and now, trainers still don't care about good defenders. All they care about is wasting the attacker's time so that a golden berry can be 'sent' to the defender. The attacker is so stupid that he keeps wasting Revives, Potions and a lot of his valuable time to go through Blissey, Snorlax, Chansey, Dragonite, Tyranitar and the lazy guy to find out that the motivation is 'full'. Now if you call this competetive, I don't want to talk with you. Come on, man this system is HORRIBLE. Wait! The worst part is still to come. The coin collection. Yeah, man. This is definitely undoubtedly undisputedly THE WORST part of this system. You work very hard to empty a gym. Then you keep your Pokémon in it. 8 hours and 20 minutes later, your heart is filled with joy that your Pokémon has successfully collected 50 coins. Now you'll recieve your coins in any minute. Any minute now......any minute now.....any minute now. Wait, it's been months but still no coin. What's happenning in there? I'm telling you what's happenning. Your rivals have decided that they'll take revenge on you for kicking them out of the gym. And they have the sweetest revenge which is called 'forgiveness'. They forgave you and let your Pokémon sit on that gym 'forever'. Gym attacking is pointless anyway. They save their Potions and Revives and they have their revenge by simply doing nothing. What an irony! Now you have lost a bunch of Potions and Revives to get that gym and your favorite Pokémon is 'away from home' for months and for all that you got nothing. Now, you have to go through the HUMILIATION of BEGGING your enemies to attack you. I repeat, "Begging your enemies to attack you". How funny, Niantic! And after all that, what do you get? 50 coins!
Niantic, listen to my (and possibly everyone's) demands:
1. Change the coin collection system. Many trainers have requested for the collect button to return but I think I have a better idea. Here goes, after your Pokémon has defended a gym for 8 hours and 20 minutes, it stops collecting coins. And at the end of the day (12:00 am or 00:00), it sends the 50 coins(or less if the Pokémon started defending after 3:40 pm or 15:40) to its trainer. And after that, it starts collecting coins again. Untill it is kicked out, it'll keep sending 50 coins to its trainer everyday. And finally, when it gets kicked out it returns to its trainer with 50 coins(or less if it is kicked out before 8:20 am or 8:20).
This way, the funny revenges and the begging for destruction stops forever! And more importantly, gym defense starts making sense. It's simple- the longer your Pokémon stays in the gym, the more coin you get.
2. Every Pokémon MUST have an equal rate for motivation decay. The motivation decay rate should not depend on the defender's CP.
This is an easy way to make sure that both high CP Pokémon and low CP Pokémon can be good defenders.
3. The Pokémon which does higher amount of damage to the attacker(s) will lose less amount of motivation.
This will make sure that trainers use some Pokémon which pound on the attacker instead of always using the time-wasters.
4. A defender Pokémon can only recieve 1 golden berry. Once it has recieved one golden berry, no trainer can feed it any more golden berry. However, every Pokémon can recieve unlimited amount of other berries
I think this doesn't need explanation.
5. Change the gym positioning system. I mean the placement wise gym position is good. But use the system in reverse. The Pokémon which goes in a gym first will get the top gym slot, not the one which goes in last! It's simple- the earlier you entry, the higher slot you get.
Well, most of the times the trainer who beats up the gym goes in the gym first. And I think that the guy who beats up the gym deserves the top slot.
6. Untill now, everything I've written is going to be pretty much undisputed. But this one is going to be controversial. So Niantic, this is not a demand. This is an idea and I would like you to just give it a thought. So, basically it's optional. Here goes; instead of 6 gym slots, bring back 10 slots. And....... bring back the CP-wise positioning system. Wait, wait don't scream already, hear me out first. Bring back the CP-wise positioning for just the top 3 slots. So, the 3 highest CP Pokémon will be in the top 3 slots and the rest of the slots will be determined by placement. So, if the gym attacker (who put the first Pokémon in the gym) puts a very low CP Pokémon in the gym, he is most likely to get the 4th gym slot.
I think this will be a good change to the gym system. Currently, there is almost no value of CP and IVs. Though CP is not a valuable value but it is still a value. And I personally think that CP should have some importance. And since only 3 of the 10 slots are determined by CP, the whole system will not be CP-based.
That's it. Friends, I need your help. I need you to help me so that this message reaches Niantic. I am pretty sure that Niantic has seen some of the complaints. But they are not taking it seriously at all. So, we need to force them to pay attention. We are all fans of the Pokémon franchise and Pokémon GO. We all love this game and we want this game to be one of the best of all. So, we have to bring Niantic out of the only-business policy and demand them to make the game actually good and competetive. So, we need to start a strong campaign. I have planned that we should start a Pokémon GO movement. Everybody shout with me, "Fix The Gyms!" Many of us we will be sharing our community day moments on social media. On that day, everyone will use the hash tag #FixTheGyms #PokémonGO. I believe this will force Niantic to pay attention. Share this page with your friends and in public groups. We need a considerable number of hash tags and a strong movement to force Niantic's attention. Friends, who's with me?

I pretty much agree with the above comment. This post is way too long to hold my interest. I read the first paragraph and skimmed a little more, and found a number of assertions I completely disagreed with, so I lost interest quickly.
This is really just an opinion piece on your part, and many others will disagree with much of what you've written, so at least try to be concise.
I'm back! Your favourite troll is here!
I got bored of this well intentioned piece after a while so I'll simplify the problems
-gyms are uncompetitive and boring, no reason to put high CP Pokemon in cos any Noob can take them Down. The opposite of the original system when no one put low co Pokemon in.
-the motivation thing needs a complete overhaul.
-no one cares about good defenders cos they're pointless. Defense is worthless in this meta
-people can troll you by deliberately never kicking out your Pokemon. I have never personally witnessed this.
That's about it I think. The OP raised good points in fairness.
How much activity is there on the new system compared to old?
Old system could sit as a Blissey tower for weeks because nobody wanted to spend an hour on it. Now the longest it takes to turn over a gym is 5 minutes unless someone is berry feeding (closest we have to PvP battles I guess).
If there is 5x as much activity overall across the country now, you tell me which one Niantic thinks is broken.
So... in their opinion they made it better. If they deem it is the #1 issue they will work on it. If it won't drive sales... they won't care.
Yea this guy is just filled with baby rage that will listen to no one and will only listen to those that agree to his point, thats what i got from the first 2 paragraphs. I would rewrite this and have others read and edit this. Am sure you have good points further down but the flow of this is all over the place.
1. If a Pokemon can earn more than 50 coins from sitting in a single gym, then berry feeding will increase. What's more: Spoofers will rule all gyms and use them to farm money for the game. E.g. the coin cap is good for the game.
2. I agree that the rate of motivation decay should be reduced considerably. But I don't think that all Mon should be equal. The way things are, I have often done better with a Noctowl in a Gym than a Blissey and that makes the game more interesting. Blissey is good at keeping a gym in the shirt term, but there are other Mon better for long term.
3. It really doesn't take that long to turn a gym over. If someone is berry feeding, then you'll need more than one attacker. So I usually find a new gym to clear out.
4. Again, it really isn't that hard to clear a gym out as is. Not sure why we'd want to increase turnover. Then it would be that much harder to earn the daily $50.
5. Might be interesting if we got to pick our slot. Then the person who defeated the gym could choose to be first slot or last slot.
6. Six is your least controvercial point. I've heard a few people want 10 slots. It also supports my position of making Gyms harder to take down while offering more places for newbs to drop their mon without weakening the gym.
Personally I liked the old system. I didnt mind the spofers cuz it was a challenge to beat their gyms. It had its weaknesses but they made it worse by making it absolutly uncompetitiv with the excuse of „new players“ (as if they would exist) having no chance.
I‘d like to see it like this:
- stop motivation bullshit
- back to 10 spots (free spots no training)
- include legendaries
- like now 3 rounds to clear the gym (max 15min to take it)
- coin collect button
- keep the only one of each poki rule
- keep defending time
