Pokemon encounter task

Sometimes when this happens I'll need to tap it again after it appears at the top of the list as a "claimed" research. Normally it's not an issue, but on Squirtle day claiming the encounter researches routinely locked my game up until I restarted it.

Just restart your game. Niantic struggles with functions of the game.

It seems to have changed - prior to Squirtle day, whenever you claimed the Pokémon Encounter it popped up right away. Since then it seems like you have to click it twice - click 1 to remove the research task from the list and click 2 to begin the encounter.

I think they changed it in the latest update. Before that many (me included) had a problem where the game would just freeze whenever we clicked on the encounter and had to restart the game. Very annoying, especially during the Community Day.

I think Niantic was aware of the problem and changed it so that the Pokemon doesn't appear. You just get to complete the task and then catch it later if you want.
That fixed the issue for me. Now I can do the tasks without having to restart the game all the time.

Yes I am having that problem too, I get the stamp but it does not take me to the catch screen.

Changed about a week ago probably to force us to clean out our stashed pokemon
