Pokemon CP caps at LVL 30?

I´ve heard from many places that when you reach LVL 30 the pokemons max CP would stop to increase. but when I look on a pokemon on this site the max CP keeps increasing until LVL 40. Just want to know when it caps.

After level 30, the CP gain per power up drops by half. (Example: Vaporeon gains 40 CP per power up before level 30, but only 20 CP for each power up after level 30.) So CP doesn't cap at level 30, but power up efficiency sure takes a big hit at that point.

WRONG! His question would be answered like this:

Pokemon CP that you find IN THE WILD cap at lvl 30 (you can't find a lvl 30.5, 31, 31,5... pokemon in the wild). After that, you can power up those lvl 30 pokemon thus spending your stardust after you reach levels 31 and so forth so that your pokemon may keep the level as you...

No, he was right and was the most appropriate answer. He asked about max cp, not wild cp, it was very clear. Furthermore, while it is true no wild pokemon appear above 30, it is also true that no wilds EVER appear at a .5 level, which you implied.

So after you hit lvl 30, wild pokemon cp caps and you have to power up the pokemon if you want it to get higher?

Yes. But because powering up gives you only half CP it's not worth it. Just keep it at level 30 and don't waste candy/stardust.
