Pokémon in a area you can't get it
Has anyone had this happen where there's a rare spawn but you can't get it because it's in a area you can't go or reach it from? Just had this happen with me and a snorlax that niantic decided to spawn in someone's backyard which was very frustrating. Are niantic trying to get people arrested like cmon now...

What?
I want to respond to this...but I am not sure what you are even saying.
If I was to guess what you mean, then you are saying that rural areas can be more than 2km between stops - but that doesn't nullify my point, but in fact strengthens it.
My point is that if pokemon were to only spawn at pokestops, then it is not only rural players that will be negatively effected, but in fact it will have a detrimental effect on many more than just rural players. It will have a negative effect on players in the suburbs too, and many other areas.
Basically...you are agreeing with me, and yet having a go - unless I have completely misinterpreted what you are trying to say.
I mean your right your going to need to walk to hit pokestops regardless if there close or far away but why would you quit just cause mons only spawn at stops? I mean Pokémon are meant to be caught in the wild compared to stops but there are areas that don't even have stops and could be a nest or a rare spawn but no one would know since niantic's tracker mainly only covers Pokémon at stops and a minimum of Pokémon in the wild nearby unless your in a rural area that there are no pokestops or gyms
I can travel to a collection of stops and restock on supplies, and then walk around my local area that does not have a massive amount of stops...but I can still catch things.
If mons only spawned at stops then basically it kills the largest part of the game for me.
Collecting at stops can be done in a couple of hours every few days...but catching mons not at pokestops is where I play most of the time.
If I can't actually use the supplies I build up...then what is the point in building up supplies?
Ain't nobody got time for that.
I'm confused.
How did you know the Snorlax was in their back yard?
If you were able to see the Snorlax on the map then its within the distance for you to tap it and catch it.
The only other explanation is that the person had a pokestop in their back yard and the map showed that the snorlax was next to the pokestop.
It's a common area I play in and have caught a snorlax in the same area before at one of the stops up the block from where this one spawned recently. There are 6 stops total but it's between a 2 block radius and 2 of the stops one at a church and park are far apart from each other and I've caught multiple rare Pokémon in this area before. I also knew it was there because I have a Facebook/Discord group for my area that usually tell each other where rare Pokémon spawn and just so happen to see it and I live a town over from where it was so I said let me see if I can catch it. Also the 4 or 5 cars that pulled up in front of this one house might of given it away.
There was once I saw a dragonite spawn on a pokestop inside an enclosed park. It was night and the park was closed. Even when I walked right up to the fence I couldn't reach it.
So I opened and closed the app a couple of times, went to facebook a few times. And presto! GPS drifted me in further and I managed to click on the dragonite in time.
Turned out to be a 89% DT/Hur. =) Now that's making use of GPS drift!
It happened to me during the Valentine's event, when I was hunting for a Chansey, which was the last Gen 1 pokemon I was missing (excluding regionals). Chanseys were still very scarce around here during the event, and I hunted for many dozens of hours, often ignoring everything else in my singular pursuit of a Chansey.
On the Saturday night, I was cruising a mall parking lot, and a Chansey showed up on the in-game tracker. I drove in the direction of the indicated pokestop, until I figured out that it was in the center of the indoor mall, and because it was 1:00am, there was no way to get in. I circled the mall & tried to figure out where I could get closest, and hoped that my GPS would drift just long enough for the Chansey to appear. It didn't. I also tried driving to one side of the mall, closing out of the app, and driving to the other side, hoping that my avatar would race through the center of the mall close enough to the Chansey. I spent about 45 minutes trying to think of something, and even tried the mall doors, all to no avail. I was livid.
Fortunately, late the next evening, I did finally get a Chansey (two, actually, about a minute apart), in a different mall parking lot. Those, plus the sighting from the night before, remain the only Chanseys I've ever encountered, and I've never hatched any.
All day everyday. There are two spawn points that show on my nearby list, one point is down the dead end and the other is down in the hollow. The worst part is that if I go towards them it will pick up the one and only pokestop around (that is also unreachable on foot) and stops my tracking.
So I just walk down the dead end and hope for the best. I really miss the old tracker.
Even when I simply liked to walk I hated fences with passion. Now I wish I could fire hyper beams out of my eyes to blow 'em up XD In the city there's a lot, like in industrial zones, which I understand, and around clusters of garages, which should all sink into the earth 'cos I hate city-dwelling car owners :)
there's a pokestop like on the top of a hill in my small city (perifery) and there seem to spawn top rare pokemon at times.
It's a really hard to reach place, but kinda accessible though
in february I saw a Dragonite on the radar and went there running fast by bicycle, climb the hill by bicycle verytough work, and a man was working in the grass there told me to go back. I managed to fight approach Dragonite ~1800cp who fled.
2 days ago I went to the same area because I was told of a Girafarig nest in there, and a Snorlax popped on the same pokestop, so again a devastating bicycle climb! this time I caught a great Snorlax Zh/Hs 89% 12hp 15at 13df but level 16 x-&.
There are some rich people in my town and they own a garden with 4 stops and only one can be reached, they also have a gym that can be reached, ofc the whole lot is private, they have had some rare nests and it is really lame because there are only 5 other stops in my town and they are far apart,
I met a player who said he ran in their yard to get a snorlax haha, maybe I would have done the same lol
This is just not right :(
My only problem with this game is that it is just not fair that some people live in poke paradise (pokestops and/or gym near or in their house!) and others in the poke desert.... 2 miles to the nearest stop, nothing AT ALL EVER spawns within 1/2 mile from my house (unless I pay for and use incense).
Just not fair, I wish they spawned everywhere and stops/gyms were evenly distributed... maybe on a grid covering the whole (PG) world.
One can dream...
I have two elegant solutions for you at once for this case.
1. It's a most futuristic one: you get a PoGo wristband and a tiny (size of a раск a cigarettes) unfoldable light drone. When you're unable to reach the location you need (means within the close range), just clip on a bracelet to the gadget and send it moving out closer to the spot. Operating right from your phone. PoGo band has an automatic catch function feature and will do all the job for you.
2. Is intended to increase the number of poke stops in your area by comparing the number of actual poke stops and gyms. With number of portals on the map in the Ingress (other game by NIA a progenitor of PoGo) It's here: https://ingress.com/intel
All poke stops have been taken from the existing portals located in the Ingress. You'll figure some portals are not appearing to be active poke stops in the PoGo as NIA keeps a reserve pool for the future. Then just send a request ticket to NIA asking to activate those portals as a poke stops as well. I hope you'll get lucky in that.
