I've read many old threads here and on reddit, where many people said that poison is easily countered by water.

Water has no type advantage over poison in any way. Did water have any advantage over poison last time?

I have absolutly no idea. Water doesnt resist poison and isnt SE against it. Ground types are SE but not water

Water has never been good against poison. There are one or two pokemon, e.g. Nidoking/queen that have a secondary typing which is weak to water, so perhaps that's where the confusion comes from. I'm reaching a bit here though.

Maybe because Vaporeon is a overpoeered bulky waterpokempn and was good against everything= Water (Vaporeon) was good against poison. Maybe this way.....:D
....i don't know!

With the old damage calculations where STAB and weakness were both at x1.25, Vaporeon was a good tanky counter to anything that didn't resist it and deal super effective back.

And that is not even going back to last summer when Water Gun had base damage 10 with .5s duration.
