So after 8 Kyogre raids (not a lot, admittedly), I managed to catch 6, one of which was a shiny, and one weather boosted. HOWEVER, not a single one has an IV higher than 80 (the shiny).

Needless to say I am pretty frustrated. I wasn't looking for a hundo, just a respectable 89 or so. Kyogre was the one legendary I didn't have that I was most excited about, so this is pretty disappointing.

Please tell me why I shouldn't be stressed/bummed about this, and why I should go ahead and power up one or two. I kind of know the reasons (Kyogre's dominance among water types, IVs not mattering as much as we think), but I wanted to vent to my fellow GP posters and get help getting talked off the ledge a bit.

Thanks.

Just go ahead & power a couple up, Kyogre is so far ahead of any other water type, I would just power to a respectable cp tho & not max out given the IV's of yours.

Kyogre fast move is a high power move, so breakpoints don't matter as much. You can go ahead and power your best one.
If you still hesitant to power it up, kyogre is likely to come back as research breakthrough in 3-6 months.

This.
Against most raid bosses, there's likely not *too* consequential a difference between a ~12 Atk Kyogre and a 15.

That's good enough
I only managed to catch 5, out of 10+ raids...
all of them are over 80 though...

A bit of humblewhining: I only managed to snag 2 out of 9 raids this time around, 0 shinies. And not from poor aim either, I had 16/19 caught before. I feel violated.

As previous replies; pour rc into it anyway, good stats and good moves will wreac havoc (almost) regardless of IV.
My L25 78% still outperforms my L33 98% vaporeon.

Dude, you have a shiny after only 8 raids. I did at least one Kyogre raid daily since they came back and still no shiny. At least I got some good ones but none better than my best from the first wave, though 96% is tough to beat. The bigger takeaway here is I never got a shiny after doing twice as many as you did.

Well, I suppose if the IVs are such a concern for you, you could wait 90+ days to get a Best Friend in game and trade one of your "bad" Kyogre for one of their "bad" Kyogre. Trading legends with a Best Friend will cost 40k stardust but the IVs will be rerolled giving you one more chance. Trades are one-way and can not be traded back.

That is a long time to wait though and a lot of stardust for a potential marginally better Kyogre, and we don't yet know how exactly IV rerolls will work.

pay 40k stardust to turn a 80iv kyogre into hopefully a 90+iv woooo smart way to manage ressources

I got something like 14 out of 17 catches.

I likewise wanted a high iv one.

I managed something around 83% on the first catch, but after that everything was under 80% until around my 10th or 11th raid. I got a 91%, 89%, then a weather boosted 96%. I also got a 70% ish shiny as my 8th I think (during the bad start).

Basically it sounds like we had a very similar experience, except I grinded out more raids to get out of the bad luck.

I'm not sure about your area, but my area already had the push notification for regice, but kyogre is still the raid boss for another 4.5 hours or so. Get out there during your lunch or something and try to get 1 or 2 more!

Better just send them all to the professor and use Gyarados as your water attacker.

Thank you for the thoughts/replies... much appreciated. I'm going to bring the Shiny 80 to Level 35 or so, and bring the weather-boosted up a few levels so it's about on par with a maxed Gary. Hopefully I get something better when it rolls around again for research/etc. or through trading.
