Player banned?

Yesterday, i was surprised to find a gym at level 10 with 50kxp and 9 defenders. This gym used to be stable at level 10 blue for half a year, only with some shaving and replacing.
It left it for 10 Minutes, to be sure not to take someones places, then i put a defender.

Now i am curious how this situation could arise. My only explaination is, that a player wit a defender in this gym was banned and its defender was taken out.

I am curious to read your thoughts.

Someone actually made a post similar to this yesterday, with more drastic implementation. He said that multiple level 10 gyms had been taken down in his city and they were all clearly spoofers (UK I think). When I got home from work yesterday all top tier gyms in my city that were definitely held by spoofers have been taken down. I don’t know what’s going on, but there is clearly a crackdown on false accounts going on and I am so relieved. I was actually able to hold the gym next to my house for more than an hour this morning.

Same, but maybe the one I looked for indeed is not a spoofer.

Someone could have trained it up and not occupied it for their own strange reasons. We often train up gyms so that other yellows can come along and just drop in mons to help fortify at their leisure.

I just trained up a gym, put in a mon...and then continued to train it up so that another 2 slots were free.

If someone finds it then they get a free spot, but if not, then the gym is stronger and will take longer to drop it down, than if I had just left it after placing my defender. Perhaps someone did the same thing.

...but I hope it is that they are cracking down on spoofers multi-accounters.
