Petal Blizzard vs Solar Beam (which is better)

So Petal Blizzard

CD EPU DPS DPS w/STAB
2.60 -100 42.31 52.88

CD EPU DPS DPS w/STAB
4.90 -100 36.73 45.92

Okay, both of these moves require the same energy.
But Petal Blizzard does less damage, and over a shorter duration. So when you divide the damage by druation you get a higher Damage Per second.

But wouldn't Solar Beam still be better. You are getting a longer duration, and more total damage. Rather than returning to your quickmove. You are also getting more Damage Per Energy correct?

I'd really lke to see Damage per energy added to quick moves as well as Damage per cycle on charts.

PB has better dps because of it's quick CD so you can start building more energy which results much quicker charge move to be spammed than SB.

Yes, BUT the problem becomes your still doing more total damage with 180 move over a 110 move.

Are you generating enough extra damage + extra energy to make up for 180 / 100 energy vs 110/100 energy.

Yeah, I think in this new meta, 2 bar moves are much better since energy generation is now super slow...

Parasect prestigers are a pain to use and most will never generate enough energy to get off 2 solar beam with Water Gun doing more damage now...

In the past, you can pretty much power up a solar beam in like 3 rounds or so of using bug bite...super super fast...Now, it's like a slog...Need to rethink all our prestigers now.

Eh, I don't quite agree. The CD of Petal Blizzard is only shorter by 2.3 sec. How many hits of quick move can you jam into that amount of time? Two? Most likely just one.

Adding just that small amount of energy is nothing compared to having Solar Beam, which does 64% more damage than Petal Blizzard.

solarbeam does insane damage. It's way better than petal blizzard. You just need to watch not to get hit by a big defender charge move.
I was battling a Rhydon with my tangela and I was waiting for its earthquake but it wouldn't use it. So I got bored and decided to just use solarbeam. Then the "rhydon used earthquake" message showed up and I thought I screwed up but it never hit cause solarbeam just finished it off, I wasn't even expecting that
180 is an awful lot of damage

I believe it comes down to personal preference. Whether you want to use your charge move and dodge (PB), or u don't care if u get hit once or twice for the sake of dealing more dmg (SBeam). I think both are A, maybe PB is something like A-, but again, personal preference is what should decide here IMO. Tested both charge moves today, I'm more of a SBeam guy, but I still don't regret maxing my PB Venusaur.

Offensively, I think Solar Beam is better. You just need to be careful you don't hit by a faster charge move while you are using it.

The problem is simply that Petal Blizzard is also a 1 bar charge move too so I'd say Solar Beam is tons better also.

Unless it's changed back to 2 bars, Solar Beam IMO is tons better than Petal Blizzard since energy generation is slower so the quick move damage/energy gain is much less important now in this gen2 meta change...
