Perfect Steel Wing/Hyper Beam Dragonite

I am beyond ecstatic that I found a 100% Dratini that spawned near my apartment, but it's only level 5. I went ahead and spent the 125 candy to evolve it to see which moves my Dragonite (483 cp) would get, and sadly, it's Steel Wing/Hyper Beam, like 3 other dragonite I have. I already have powered up a 3070 CP 73%, with that moveset.

I know that IVs do not affect battle as much as moveset, so my question is, how much worse is this moveset compared to others? I have plenty of stardust, but I'd need about 115 candy to power this one up to fighting level, which is almost a dragonite on its own. Should I cut my losses and save the candy for another dragonite and pray I get Dragon Tail/Outrage?

I pretty much felt like that when I evolved my 98 dratini and got the same moveset. SW + Hyper Beam is by far the worst moveset on Dragonite, I mean it's still serviceable in the grand scheme of things (especially since SW is quicker now) but it's far from optimal.

I feel your pain. Although i have caught DB/DC and DT/OR dnites in the wild, i have evolved three that all got SW.

Ouch, sorry mate. I have 5 with hyper beam, 4 with Steel Wing/Hyper Beam.

I had several Dratini ready to evolve for Gen2 with hundreds of candy, and I got like 5-6 SW-Hyper Beam out of the lot. Seem to get it a lot when evolving Dragonites lol.

Seriously tho - im not even thay bummed over the SW, the thing that annoys me is hyper beam. After the recent update i actually prefer SW over DT because its faster. And i got DC and OR on my other high iv dragonites, which im very happy with.

Ya i got a tyranitar with a bite fireblast not to happy about. But its a gym sitter i think anything over 98 is worth it .. especially there should b a move set reroll in the future!
