Perfect Eevee - what would you do?
So, I got pretty lucky today - got a 100% Eevee from an egg. Now I'm not entirely sure what to do with it. If you were in my position, what would you do? Here are some details:
-I would certainly like to get another good Vaporeon. The problem is that I already used the name trick so there is no guarantee that I am getting one.
-I already have an 84% Flareon and an 87% Jolteon powered up to level 30. I don't think I need more than one of each.
-I could wait for the 2nd generation but I have some worries about it:
1. I don't know if the name trick will be there for Umbreon and Espeon.
2. Even if it is, I don't know how likely they are to be powerful once they come out.
3. If they are not too good, then the chance of getting a Vaporeon is even lower once the 2nd gen is there.
What would you do and why?

I would wait...
I absolutely would freak out if it become flareon! Vaporeon and jolteon(except the one with discharge) are always useful.
So right now, I calculate that the chance to have a useless eevee is 40-50%. Pretty high.
When espeon and umbreon come out it will be lower. Espeon seems to have a very high max cp. On the other hand, umbreon's dark type will be very useful. So both won't be useless.
I would evolve now only if I absolutely want a super strong vaporeon and I m willing to take the risk. If you just want it to become something useful, then wait
I'd evolve it myself...You can always get Umbreon and Espeon later, but my guess is Vaporeon will be harder to get with more Eevee evolutions.
If not, it's still 1/3 of a chance now and assuming you used the name trick on a lesser IV Eevee, you can get a chance to get the best one now.
At least with Vaporeon, there are not as many "bad" moves...If I had a 100%, I'd probably want Water Pulse or Hydropump.
Hydropump is not as good of a defender, but it's a CP race anyways and yours will be the highest Vap if you get lucky.
Tough one, if you really need another Vaporean. If eevees are as common where you are as they are here, I would save this 100% with the hope of a new naming trick, then keep hunting up eevees. I'm level 32 now, so I see a good number of level 30 eevees. Some of those have great IV's. I would wait for one of them to make another Vaporean.
Im doing the same thing with a 700 odd CP 93% Eevee.
Plan to save it for gen 2 and use a guaranteed evolution name trick.
I was and still am tempted to evolve it now...but i just dunno.
I already have a 87% vape with hydropump, and a 87% vape with aqua tail.
What i would actually want from it is so specific...the chances are pretty high of me just being disappointed and regretting not saving it for umbreon/espeon
The problem for Umbreon is that its Base ATK is too low, so having a perfect ATK IV is definitely useful for it. Espeon is weaker than Vaporeon, and is only useful when introduced along with Gen 1 or when Gen 2 just out, so not everyone having a dark Pokémon. If you really want a prestiger, wait for Umbreon; if you want a Vaporeon, evolve it now!
Besides restarting the game and sign out/sign in, I read somewhere that the name trick still works after you use it for all 3 evolutions providing that you don't do two of the same consecutively. Meaning if you just did a Rainer, Pyro and Sparky (in that order), if you try to do another Sparky, it won't work. Has to be Rainer or Pyro. Haven't tried this myself since I already got 90+% with good movesets for all 3. Anyone else can confirm?
Lots of theories about these crazy sequences. I tried a few different ones and came to the conclusion that the "name trick" only works once and the rest is just coincidence. Hoping to be proved wrong, but these "tricks" have been circulating since July and I haven't seen any hard evidence or confirmation that they work.
An old cliche: Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
I personally would roll the dice because I do not think that Umbreon or Espeon will be particularly useful.
You now have a 2 in 3 chance of getting a useful eveelution (Vape or Jolt) and 3/3 and 2/3 movesets are useful for both of these. These are not bad odds.
Just prepare yourself mentally if you end up with Flareon or Jolteon with Discharge...
A fun part of this game is exactly this gambling, which feels so good when it works out. Honestly, I have forgotten about the really bad luck I've had. Maybe I'm just too positive :-)
Why no love for Espeon? Same typing as Alakazam that everyone has been raving about (I've 2 so far but none with right moveset) - base attack stat is only 10 points less, and +20 better stamina so not such a glass cannon. Slightly higher max CP means he could realistically have a place in a gym - movesets depending, of course.
