Just soloed my first omastar and wanted to share some observations. Omastar was boosted by rainy wheather and had MS/RT as his moveset. I finished with 25 sec remaining First of all my team included:
Exeggutor lvl 35,5 BS/SoB
Groudon lvl 31,5 MS/SoB
Victrebeel lvl 31,5 RL/SoB
Venasaur lvl 31,5 WV/SoB
Exeggutor lvl 31,5 C/SoB
Exeggutor lvl 31,5 C/SoB
The real MVP in this fight is Groudon. I got him to launch 4 SoB before fainting dealing heavy dmg even without STAB. His dmg is close to Exeggutor. Exeggutor is by far the best pure grass type and was able to get off two SoB without doding. Even the ones with Confusion were good for two charge moves and were more efficient than both Venasaur and Victrebeel in my view. They are just to frail. Hope this helps people to take on Omastar one of my absolute favorites.

Not certain but I think in fights weather only boosts moves that match the boosted types. There is no general boosting for pokemon of those types if they have different typed moves. So in this case, you got all the benefit of catching a boosted level 25 raid boss without having to fight against boosted moves.
Congrats, also did my first one today, was rock-boosted and had Water Gun + Rock Blast.
My team was pretty makeshift and just about got it done on the second try. 3 Exeggutors between 28 to 30 with Solar Beam, a level 27 Vileplume with RL/SO and 2 Machamps with C/DP.
Turns out you don't need to invest 600 rare candies into maxing 3 Raikous and Machamps /s
Congrats on your solo. A nice achievement, but you misunderstand weather boosting.
MS (Mud Shot) is a ground move and is boosted by "clear" weather.
RB (Rock Blast) is a rock move and is boosted by "partly cloudy" weather.
The moves of the Omastar you defeated were not boosted.
After the raid in the ensuing battle, if you captured an Omastar, then that Omastar would be a weather buffed Omastar and caught at level 25, because Omastar is a water type pokemon boosted by rainy weather.
RB of course, sorry. The point I wanted to make to help others was mainly to tell from my experience that SoB Groudon is clearly the best counter and the x-factor in this fight if you don't have 6 really strong grasses. The second point was to tell that exeggutor even with psychic fast move seemed to be more usefull than Venasaur and Victrebeel.
