so my apartment is situated right on an omanyte nest, this is the 3rd decent iv omastars that ive evolved and it finally has water gun and hydro pump with 88.9 iv (the first 2 were >90 iv but had water gun with rock slide/ancient power).
so question is if this guys worth powering up? or should i just stick with vaporeons. thanks!
If you've got plenty of dust and candies are plentiful I'd be tempted. He's not got much advantage over Vaperon as an attacker though (principally against fire types if you ever get them in gyms). Look at your watergun/rockslide Omastar as a defender (unless grasses are very common in your area).
Personally I like to see non-standard Pokes used more, even if they're not always the very best - it makes the game more interesting.
Omastar is better than a single type water against fire pokemon because water and rock are both resistant to fire, but not as good against rock/ground because rock is weak to ground. With the slight nerf to Arcanine and the huge buff to Rhydon, there are a lot more rock/ground pokemon than fire in gyms now, so Omastar has lost some of its previous value as an attacker.
Vaporeons will always be a better allrounder than an Omastar, but he's a really cool mon and yours will probably make a good (and potion efficient) attacker at lvl 30.
What I envy you more is the WG/RockSlide Omastar with 90%+ IV. That's one amazing defender in areas where grass mons are rare. I'd power that one up to make it usable in gyms, so much cooler than a vaporeon, although lower CP.
