Omastar evolving question

One of my most wanted Pokemon is the elusive Rock Throw/Rock Slide or Rock Throw/Hydro Pump Omastar. I understand that Rock Throw and Rock Slide are both legacy moves. I actually have an Omanyte that was captured on 12/10/2016. If I evolve him does he have a chance of getting legacy moves? How old does a Pokemon need to be in order to have a chance of attaining legacy moves? Thanks.

You can not get legacy moves by evolving at all, no matter the age of the pokemon.
The only way would be to hatch an egg that was collected prior to the move changes - this will have the moveset it had at time of collection.

Basically, you will never get a legacy Omastar.

I'd wait to evolve Omanytes for now till he gets back a double rock move option...

Rock Throw was buffed after gen2 and Rock Slide are probably best. Hope he gets something soon (same with Kabutops).

Cross your fingers for Bubble (w buff back to 25) + Rock Blast after next moveset change.

I can hope...

Omastar doesn't learn Bubble.

Whirlpool (water) and Smack Down (rock) are both good candidates for new quick moves, although Whirlpool needs to be based on Gen4 learnsets.

Here's my Lord Helix
He was the first water pokemon I ever caught. IV 84
HP 15
AT 11
DEF 12
CP 1684

I've always thought about maxing him to lvl 30 but never had the guts to do it. Who knows with 'gym rework' or maybe he'll get better moves in the future. I like using him for prestige
