Official Easter event announcement

I wonder what a greater variety in 2 km. eggs means. Will Pokemon normally in 10 km. be there? Pokemon that don't normally hatch from eggs?
Edit: I'm pasting in the words here, in case people have trouble with the link.
"Lace up your walking shoes and get ready to put a spring in your step—the Pokémon GO Eggstravaganza is nearly here! From 1:00 P.M. PDT on April 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on April 20, 2017, a greater variety of Pokémon can now be found in 2 km Eggs, so get cracking and see what you find! Your Egg-venture doesn’t stop there, though—you’ll also earn more Candy for every Egg you hatch!
"Throughout this Eggstravaganza, you’ll also level up even faster with double XP! Combine this Egg-cellent bonus with a Lucky Egg, and you’ll earn four times the XP you normally would. To make this Eggstravaganza even sweeter, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop!

It's possible they won't for old eggs, but EVERY event has been double candy even for eggs you got PRIOR to the event so from what I believe, it will be double again...
The official announcement already says "Your Egg-venture doesn’t stop there, though—you’ll also earn more Candy for every Egg you hatch!"

so it's already "more" candy even though we just had it 2 months ago...
But every event so far was double candy across the board right? I think the pre event eggs will still have double candy but there is a chance that they won't. Depends on if the candy amount is programmed draw at the time of egg spin. Even then they could just flip a switch and say "all eggs opened after this time have 2X candy." But for all we know that switch was "all candy 2X" before and they are just packing candy at 2X the amount this time at the moment the egg is received.
I'll also say that the current belief is that candy is most likely determined when the egg is cracked right now.
Even though that's true, the only candies a lot of people really need are only from 10km (Snorlax, Larvitar, Mareep, Dratinit, etc...) and unless you have unlimited coins or spend money, getting 10km eggs is not that simple...It takes a few months of saving for many of us.
2km eggs are generally better than 5km due to Machop and to a lesser extent Gastly and Abra...
I have > 1000 Growlithe candies, do I need it for anything? Nope, plan to just mass evolve all of them...

Ironically, that's because you don't free up the slots that the 10 km eggs are blocking. The more empty slots you have, the more 10km eggs you will collect. Blocking slots PREVENTS you from getting lots of 10km eggs!
Well it doesnt, if you hatch 1-2-3 eggs at a time. You cant possibly free more slots if you dont have incubators to walk it
I am addressing circumstances where one can make a choice. The person I originally responded to implied they had a choice as to whether to save the 10 km eggs or to incubate and hatch them when they were initially obtained. If you can't afford more incubators, there is no choice for you. But the unincubated eggs are still blocking the possibility of getting more 10 km eggs by reducing the probability of getting them. Just because one can't solve the problem because of lack of money (or a desire to spend it) doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.
My 3 10Km eggs aren't blocking anything, my incubator is working full time.
They are potentially blocking fresh 10 km eggs. I understand you may not be able to afford incubators to hatch them and thus have no choice in the matter, but they still unfortunately are reducing the probability of getting more 10 km eggs (which is what I mean by "blocking").
Even though that's true, the only candies a lot of people really need are only from 10km (Snorlax, Larvitar, Mareep, Dratinit, etc...)
But the person I originally responded to said they have been saving the 10km eggs for several months, so I assume this includes eggs from before Gen 2 was introduced. Thus, they will not contain Larvitar or Mareep, and are far less likely to contain Dratini than fresh eggs would, since the rate of Dratini hatches increased dramatically after Gen 2, to the point they are now considered common hatches, whereas before they were extremely rare ones. Even Snorlax and Chansey are somewhat more common now since mons like Scyther, Pinsir, the Magmar family, etc have been removed from 10 km eggs. Furthermore, the more eggs you collect, obviously the more chances you have of hatching rare Pokemon. I suspect many of you holding old 10 km eggs are just going to get things like double Pinsir candy.
I suppose unless you can run non-stop incubators or spend money, it's still IMO wiser to just save eggs...The double candy is where the time saving (not having to walk for 32 candies saves a lot of time) is really at and why you save for these events.
Also, even though I bought the 25 lucky egg pack earlier, there's no reason to waste so it's good to also get an extra 9k (18k during this event) in EXP when all your eggs hatch at once since I don't play normally with lucky eggs on. Trying to go for 200K exp on Android from 1 lucky egg alone this event.
All my 8x 10km eggs are Gen 2 so no old Pinsirs here and I have near 3k in coins as well, but my advice to everyone is to always play optimally if you want to do better than the next guy who can or want to run non-stop incubators...
I am normally in 7-10 gyms daily now and have over 600 evolves (with the required mon too) ready, but will do less since I may save candies for ones I want to take to stage 2.
I just don't think you LOSE anything by saving 10km eggs since they give more EXP when they hatch since I'd guess the majority of people don't run 9 incubators at once. You continue to walk/hatch common stuff from 5km and 2km that you don't care if you don't get double candies for anyways.
I suppose we can all just play the way we want and do what works best for us...
My guess is that this means that any Pokemon that you roll from a stop will or can be hidden as a 2K egg in your box. The upside is you will be able to hatch more rare mons from 2K eggs with only 2K of walking. The downside is that those of us that are going to drop coins for incubators may be dropping a ton of them with eggs cycling so quickly, not that I mind.
Because they never tell us everything I expect there to be some new mons added to the eggs too.
Sounds like a fun event. Out to catch Pidgeys I go...
I find it crazy that people are having a hard time finding Gen 2 starters. I have 2 Feraligatr's (one maxed to level 30) and 117 totodioe candy. And I don't even live in a water biome! 311 Chikorita candy. But the one I do struggle with is Cyndaquil. I must have like 5 catches. But the other ones are all over NYC. Especially by the water in Central Park.
