Observations from the Gengar/Pinsir day
I did not have a great day. Only caught one shiny Gengar out of 27 raids (second last raid i did.) Managed four Pinsirs but then everyone was getting those. Used up all my green passes, good thing i refuse to spend them on Giratinas.
I also observed that not a single Pidgey appeared on my screen or even radar all day. This is poor Niantic, why make Pidgeys rare during the one time they're actually useful? (for completing caterpie tasks.)
There's some terrible tasks there, five great throws in a row for a Wigglytuffs? With Pinsirs around that's very doable but why would anyone go through that stress for a Wigglytuff?? Whoever in Niantic made that decision has zero idea what the player base wants.
Despite Gengars non legendary status i still saw plenty of people out there raiding. Perhaps this will be a precedent for Niantic to do more raid community days for non legendary pokemon.
One more thing; you can now only get a maximum of six free passes on the day, instead of seven. Saving a pass from the previous day like i did no longer seems to count.

It was always 5 passes on the day. Six if you saved the the day's before one.
Pidgey doesn't exist at all. That's pretty lame.
Other than that I played my 6 free passes and got one shiny (some people got five in the same time, so I believe Niantic increased the odds today). It's my very first shiny out of a raid ever since legendary shiny were introduced. Very productive for the one hour I could play today.
This makes me feel slightly better (emphasis on “slightly”) cuz I did 23 raids and didn’t get a single shiny (or good IV one, but not as bad cuz I could at least evolve for that)... Maybe I, too, would have got one on my 26th raid if I had been able to squeeze in a few more (kind of bs that I would’ve had to though since I was already using purchased raid passes to get to the 23 while some people got multiple shinys using only the free ones... 🤬). I’ve been bummed because it felt so much like a waste of 3 hours and 15-20 bucks. I really hope they stop doing this cuz it’s so unfair that the casual players get them doing free ones and the hardcore players can go all 3 hours, do a bunch of raids and not get a single one.. we’re the ones paying the real money for this stuff but yet we get screwed. Don’t bite the hands that feed you Niantic! You will regret it some day when you only have casual players who don’t spend anything...
Shiny rate was drastically low. Lower than Birds had. About 1/3 of my community ended with 0, doing 10-25 raids( individual differnces). I Ended with no shiny in 16 raids( only 16, due to really bad weather, heavy rain)
In 3 days i caught 4 Pidgeys. Pathetic, but its still better than others. With the end of Halloween event, all other junks like Whismur, Sentret, Rats, Hoothoot, Bidoof are everywhere but not Pidgeys. Rude behavior from Niantic.
Overall, tasks are boring and bad, and even little themed with bugs. I expected "Evolve X bug" or Catch X Spinarak/Venonat/(other bug pokemon name with little boosted rate) or something new kinds of quests.
Also was sure, that will be quest for Scyther, because PInsir quest was in the past. But its Niantic...
