noctowl underrated?
This evening i've seen a lvl 5 gym of my team. Decided to prestige a bit.
First defender is a noctowl. 1536 cp. Steel wing + Wing attack, if i recall correctly). Other defenders are 2400+.
I thought the situation would have been frustrating for the low prestige gain against noctowl but at least fast to win: I was wrong.
I went with jolteon (95+ ivs, 2354 cp, ts/tb) and Noctowl took 3/4 of jolteon's hps away before fainting.
Then the next rounds i used a vaporeon (90-95 ivs, 2709 cp, wg/at) and a dragonite (95+ ivs, 2546cp, defending moveset sw/outrage) and in both cases noctowl managed to took half of their hp down.
I found the moveset difficult to dodge.Maybe it's effective because of this...
Anybody experienced anything similar? any good attacker against Noctowl?

Noctowl is like so many pokemon...undervalued because of their low cp. He is a bulkier Pidgeot, and I remember back in the day that he was a solid attacker and did good damage on defense. Noctowl has 179 defense and 200 stamina (Gyarados is 197 and 190, respectively.) Also note that Noctowl doesn't have a double weakness to electric like Gary does.
Golem with double rock moves is probably your best bet against him, but he is one of those pokemon that is just going to take a few extra seconds to take down.
Noctowl is really bulky with def higher than atk, and even higher stm. The lower base attack keeps the CP down, but it has the def and hp of a typically higher mon.
I have a few that I have used pretty effectively for prestige against grass types and fighting types. I think Wing Attack/Sky Attack might also be the best possible offensive flying moveset.
