...and mons randomly disappearing from the radar, whole game freezing when attempting to engage a mon requiring me to restart the app, a phone I could boil a cup of noodles on at times...etc..

gym battling has been brutal. The dodge bug is worse than it used to be.

I haven't updated to the newest version yet and I am still experiencing those problems more than I used to, so I think it is a server-side problem. I never thought the dodge bug could have gotten worse. Used to only happen in areas with poor cell reception. Now is happening with perfect reception and even a few times when I have been in areas where I can connect to wifi while battling.

Actually it seems the updates are not improving the game, but making it even worse. The latest "performance" updates are terrible so apart from releasing gen2 I'm not quite sure what Niantic programmers are doing - game force closes on iPhone, lags on Android, pogo+ not pairing with Nougat, bots roaming free taking gyms in entire cities - where does all the money go to?! I'm rather patient and usually don't complain, but this is getting ridiculous.

Indeed. Horrible last update.
Gym fights are impossible to do... network failure.
Pokemon disappear and the nearby tracker disappears almost every minute. It is also a 50% for me to even get into the game.
This situation reminds me of the beginning of pokemon go.
I wonder if Niantic even tests their updates before publishing.

The dodging bug has been horrible lately. It actually makes me force to fight with more tanky alternatives as Lapras vs Cloyster e.g.
