just imagine you are a spoofer
now under the old system there they are siting on their couch watching their favorite show thinking douche bag things. you notice on the phone that one of your 50 blisseys are returned to you check gymhuntr and spoof over there and take it straight back again.
there you are basking in the might of your e'peen and the glory of your clearly superior intellect in being able to read reddit and download a spoofing app.
In turn eventually legit players just give up on those gyms.
Now if said spoofer dose the same thing his mons just sit there and rot. If he doesn't let me collect some coins then i leave those gyms alone and he gets little.
on top of that the main reason people want coins is for incubators, which are now less important as raids are were the end game is at.
so in short sooner or later douche bags will realize that douche behaviour is counter-productive.

I hope they keep tweaking, because legitimate players are now also not getting mons back :D
I like that you can get coins for shorter gym occupation time, but after the cumulative time of 8 hours has been spent, all gym holders are currently useless. It also no longer stimulates optimizing Pokémon of a species.
Laugh, I am doing the same...not bother attacking gyms held and all the dominant teams in my area have no spots to collect...since it was pretty much me solo tearing them down, they can now collect nothing and "have" the gym...
That said, one of the players will just alt account since he has 6 and take out his own gym...
