New Pokémon alongside PvP?

Alongside the release of PvP will be the ability for Pokémon to have additional charge moves. This would be great for Pokémon like Yanma or Piloswine, as you could potentially unlock Ancient Power without the need to use a CTM.

Assuming Niantic implements the requirement to know a particular move prior to evolution, it seems reasonable that the above evolutions and similar ones were postponed. Thoughts?

Huh, hadn't though of that. It does make sense, those are moves needed to evolution in the main series and currently I dont know how many of those actually get that move now. We could also possibly see a move pool expansion.

First reports are that when you unlock the second move, it picks another from the usual move pool. Then if you got the one you didn't want, use a TM and you pick which move to drop, and should automatically get the remaining move. Pretty nice, and we won't have to spend multiple TMs to lock in the right moveset.

Be fun if we could buy an additional fast move too, but that might be more than the game interface can handle. It's easy to add a second charged attack button at the bottom, and have two tracks to measure the energy, or one track with markers for each attack.

I don't think this will affect evolution, unless it's a new mechanic - buy second move, hope you get AP or TM to it, evolve, and then TM away from it (if you don't want it). Sounds cumbersome. Simpler to spend your Sinnoh stone and evolve.

They already released most of the gen IV evolutions that don't require a special move or location for evolution - it might make sense that they'll bring in the requirement to know specific moves for pokemon that require that for evolution in the main series now that every species will be able to learn two moves. And I don't think you'd be stuck with the same moves on the newly evolved species - I would suspect they would get one random new move from that species movepool. My suspicion: You'd need to have a Yanma that knows Ancient Power - either as it's only charge move or as one of two charge moves. Then evolving that to Yanmega would have it know any one of the three (Ancient Power, Bug Buzz, or Aerial Ace) that's in its movepool.

We'll see!
