Don't forget though that defenders also drop motivation from being beaten in battle, aka get weaker by being battled.
So being harder to beat also means a stronger/more protected motivation pool and maintaining their CP.
If a certain pokemon motivation/CP decays slower than Blissey for example...but can be countered and beaten in no time...you could just battle that weak pokemon repeatedly and boot it out of the gym quickly.
But overall not sure...obviously just speculation at this point.
We've all pretty much figured out how to handle Blissey, and the main difference is that Chansey has a near-zero attack stat, so it will basically be a sitting duck.
Back before the gen 2 release, I prestiged against a Chansey with a P/HB Wigglytuff that had slightly lower CP than the Chansey, and the Wiggly finished the job with about 10 seconds remaining. I don't think my fully powered up Espeon, Alakazam or Machamp or ??? will have any trouble with a Chansey.
It will depend on the candy-efficiency and position in the gym. If you are the first to conquer a gym and drop a Blissey in, it can serve as gate-keeper for team mates who can feed it berries to protect theirs too.
But if it would need candies based on HP lost instead of battles lost, it would be harder to keep up.
