New Idea: Level 15 Gyms....

Now before anyone freaks out and thinks I want Stagnant gyms to get more stagnant. Level 11+ Gyms wouldn't be any harder to knock down than a Level 10.

Either
a) First Kill still knocks the Gym back to 50k prestige
or
b) slots 11-15 are "Champion" Slots only. Other teams don't fight them. Just new challengers trying to add more to champion rank. In this case, the Gym would still be a max 51,000 prestige..

Okay so here's how it would work. You must clear the entire Gym with 1 set of Pokemon. Your 6 vs 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 Pokemon.

If you win, 1 of your current line up (yes even if it was fainted or not full health) gets put on top of the Gym (even if lower CP) in Slot 11. This opens a new window (no sniping) where you leave one of your 6 attackers

Now, there's a couple reasons behind this.
1) It would be a challenge, especially to beat 14 with 6. Each would be more challenging

2) Since you have to leave one of your top 6 attackers only, this would get even more challenging as you leave your best attackers behind.

The real key to the idea, is you have to complete a full clear to get into the "Champion Slots"

Sounds like a system designed so that people who GPS spoof/bot can show off the things they've gotten by GPS spoofing/botting.

I like the idea that if you can do a "full clear" then you should automatically get to place one of your champions, and also that it has to be one of the winners (and could take advantage of the gym "nurse" to get healed) - would really change the prestiging dynamic. But I'm not sure what problem this would solve - more gym slots for high-level players? Would it eliminate the 2nd account team-mate sniping of the lowest defender? I'd much rather see a 1 species per gym rule

I doubt it would fix multi accounting, it's more effort to defeat an entire level 10 gym than it is to defeat the bottom defender once to kick it out.

Make the maximum prestige of a gym more than 50k so that the bottom defender doesn't get kicked out after one battle, simple as that.

i.e. level 10 gym still gets unlocked at 50k prestige, but you can train it up to a maximum of 55k (or whatever value is fair), so that defeating the bottom defender once and then leaving doesn't kick it out anymore, which was far too easy compared to the second defender which required 10k prestige loss.

I think its an interesting concept, I'm assuming you mean the gym would have to match the players team however it could almost be used as a like a separate battle mode regardless of team, basically if you think you can clear whats there you earn a place regardless of affiliation.

Although I can see it going against Niantics wishes of team play and benefiting spoofers I can see the positives if it was an extra conditional battle mode especially for solo players or people in areas devoid of team mates/ team mates who battle gyms, taking out multiple level 10s constantly by yourself is insanely time and resource consuming, even if this feature was limited (can only be champion of 3 gyms at a time or something) it could be beneficial if implemented right.

I think the simplest fix is to simply limit all trainers to 10 gyms. I am positive that some people have 20+, especially level 36+ trainers...

This would free up a lot of needed slots for a lot of people.

Fix 2 is just remove the 1st mon at < 50k prestige to 40k...and replace with 50k. This makes prestiging the last few spots 10k vs 8k, but if they also put in anti-sniping rules, I'd perfectly ok with that change...

Therefore, instead of the usual tier, make a mon drop out at:
< 40k
< 30k
< 20k
< 16k...etc...

This alone should fix gym sniping AND also allow more players to interact with gyms since people will now have to weight where to put their 10 top defenders (or be forced to drive out and make more gym trips).

Would you need to change this slightly?
40k is down to 9 in the gym
30k is 8
20 is 7
16 is 6
12 is 5
8 is 4
4 is 3
2 is 2
At 0 prestige, there is 1 mon in the gym. This last part is the issue. I guess the simple fix is to make it that at 1000 prestige one min gets kicked out and then at zero then last one is gone. The problem with otherwise is that, say you get a gym down to 1000 prestige. Under this proposal, there are two mons in it. Since a victory is worth 1k, you could clear the gym by only beating one of the two guys in it.

I also like your limit idea, although I think it would be more reasonable to limit it above 12 (13 maybe). Not like any of those would impact me.

The lower level gyms don't really matter too much since level 3 towers aren't going to stagnate anyways...

You can just do this type of change on the level 7+ prestige numbers gyms since that's where gym swiping occurs (knock out lowest with "g/f, brother, friend, etc..." and put in mine).

I don't know that it would do anything to reduce stagnation. You would still have level 10 towers, just with more slots. And once the top 5 are full, cheaters would still do the bottom swap. Maybe giving a reward to a member of the same team who clears a level 10 gym would help make the stagnation less of an issue, but I don't see this increasing gyms changing. Also, number of attackers doesn't really seem to be the limiting factor to most trainers.

Do you think changing the "cash out" system would help? Any time you put in a gym, you get 10 coins and dust. If you take down the gym, you might get double rewards (to encourage battling gyms). Now, you can only get coins from a specific gym once every 21 hours (to avoid two people having two accounts and just having it change hands with Cp10 defenders). If you hold a gym for that 21 hour period, you get 10 coins and dust, with a little of 10 held at a time.

This way, taking a gym always gets you something. You don't need to worry about waiting 10 hours until you can use the button in the shop. You also don't need to balance how long you hold one gym in a busy area with how long to take down the next.
