New defenders

We got a lot of viable defenders now. The demand profile has changed: They should not make taking the gym too hard, so at least one of them comes back a day. No further requirements.

My new defenders
(1) Rattatta
(2) Ratticate
(3) Pidgeot
(4) Pidgeotto
(5) Pidgey
(6) Weedle

One of those can always be placed, there is no need to revive, they do not hurt the - former rival, but now -red or yellow partner team, who i hope to take them out in a couple of hours, too bad.

A nice new defender walked in front of my office desk.... a 10CP-Paras. Great !!!

Which quality defenders do you use now?

Regards BB

Since I have a bunch of Wobbuffets that are easy to hit by alphabet search I've started dropping those. Never fails to get me returned in around an hour. So it's an automatic 50 coins.

Diversity!

Wobbuffet may be the only low level CP pokemon i would use. Just because he has high Stamina and Defense.

Anyone in the pika family with a hat can hold down a gym year round now

If I see a dull defender, I will not attack the gym. If they are both dull and insultingly weak, I will feed the poor bastards. If you want me to send your defender home, place something interesting. If you want me to send him home only after a few hours, place something that is strong at the beginning.

But if I saw you, my dear Valor or Instinct friend, place something ridiculous, I will be happy to send it home immediately so you can't collect a single coin ;)

If only Unown weren't so rare, I wonder how fast people would get them back out of several close gyms if the letters spelled an insult. Too bad it can no longer be done within 1 gym.

I started tossing in the same defenders. those who can faint then be transferred for candy when they return. no need to waste potions or revives.

I still toss on my Blissey or Snorlax on, but that's more because they aren't generally great attackers. Now I tend to put on my Steelix's, Skarmony's or for fun, Ditto's.

After 3 days now of no one taking down any of my gyms, I'm starting to rethink this strategy. I even chose gyms that used to be held by Mystic 90% of the time (I'm Instinct), but nope. 3 days now, no coins.

Sudowoodo, skarmory, you know... something kind of weak but people will want to fight it. The new normal is that you WANT to lose and do NOT want people feeding your mon.

Yep. Best if it's also something that no one wants candy of, so they don't get fed by teammates. I just had a Girafarig returned that I placed this morning. Perfect.

I totally prefer the old system, even with shaving and CP placement (shaving isn't much of a problem here with high turnover). Right now I'm totally not bothering with coins from gyms, and I'm never buying any coins.
In fact, I'm considering quitting PoGo altogether. 1 more bullshit update and I'm really quitting.

Still use my Snorlax and Blissey.

I'm happy to put back my sweat old defenders: Eggys, Poliwrath and Slowbro.

And for diversity and fun, here are the mons I've put at least once since the gym rework: Donphan, Ursaring, Shuckle and Forretress

Lanturn is a cool gym defender, it's got high stamina and only two weaknesses. I know it's coin inefficient, but I had my Steelix last nearly 2 full days at a gym, which was super cool given that it's a different Pokemon. I enjoy using Kingdra (even though Dnite bodies it), Wobb, Wigglytuff, Crobat, Miltank. Saw some cool things over the past few days defending gyms, such as Kingler, Rapidash, Slowbro, Slowking, Politoed. I actually don't take over those gyms because I appreciate the uniqueness of defender choice.
