My way of playing

I never use a dedicated team for training. I save all my mons with above 500 cp before transfer and use them for training. It costs 0 potion or revive and has a lot of fun.

I can experience many attack/defense combinations that most players never see. For example, I used 4 mons with CP 600 to train a CP 2500 vap. In the end, eevee is among the worst for training. A CP 700 eevee is less useful than a CP 500 crab. Psyduck on the other hand is quite strong and can often beat many mons with triple CP one on one. It forces you to dodge. It feels really good to beat 3 or even 4 strong mons with 6 random garbages. It gives you 3000+ Prestige and teachs you how to use the best move set and the right Mon in each fight.

Right on! I have not adjusted my game to take advantage of low cp mom for prestige. I see how that could be fun!

A trick is instead of transfer after checking iv, rename the Mon to 000. When you need them for training, sort by name. You could even name them based on their move set, for example 0000 for training vap, 0001 for training snorlax, 0002 for dragonite and do on.

I've read about that play style in a different thread and I think it's clever. But how do you find the garbage ones, when you need them? Sort bei CP and go down in the list or mark as favs?

Players of other teams will have defensive pokemons with lots of battles won, or do you always run away in your sixth fight. Not that battles won is worth anything except the honour.

I don't think you get battles won for training. If so however, source please?

I won't go as low as you. I do keep any junk 900+ (usually 900-1100) for Prestigeing.

I just rename them & symbol to use them.

I see where you could easily go lower, to have more, but while throw away Pokemon for Prestige is Potion Free it's not time free.

And the time to kill a 2500 vap with stuff in 600s is significantly long than it takes to kill the same Vap a pokemon thats 60% Stronger at 1000 CP.

I keep most above 600 CP. Rename them A and then sort alphabetically to find them quickly. I use them to attack gyms, prestige, and sometimes put on gyms I do not expect to hold for long.
Don't revive. Raticates are good fighters.

I used to do this, but unless you REALLY have revive problems (mine pretty much went away around level 26-27 since I tend to swap mons before fainting), then using, say a Pidgeotto army is just too slow.

For me, prestiging is all about doing it as fast as possible and using 500CP mons against a 2400 Snorlax or 2600 Vaporeon just is either not possible or simply too slow.

Better to have an army of 500-1200 Vaporeons (AT/HP) IMO due to their high hp, fast attack and easy to get.

I get using the new attackers can be fun, but maybe that novelty wore off for me now (Lvl 29).
