GamePress

My first Blissey

I FINALLY hatched a Chansey suitable to evolve (in fact it was very suitable indeed at 96% IV including 15 ATK). So of course it got the worst possible moveset of ZH/P - I mean what else would I expect to happen??

Thinking about it though, do GamePress underrate Psychic as a defensive charge move? I feel like they don't consider dodging difficulty enough in their ratings... or am I deluding myself? :-)

I think the ratings don't take into account dodging. Hence HB being rated higher than BS on Snorlax for example. Regardless, an arbitrary rating shouldn't dissuade you from powering up this Blissey.

If ZH/P was upgraded a few tiers why should that make you power it up if the ingame stats are still the same?

Blissey doesn't have any terrible movesets. Some are better than others but she's still the best defender even with the least effective movesets.

Oh yeah I'm definitely powering her up. I was just talking in terms of difficulty to defeat in battle. I have certainly been hit by Psychic a few times and HB only ever hits due to lag/bugs, so I think she'll be a challenge to beat. And her high IV will sit her well up in gyms anyway. So I'm still happy, just disappointed with the clearly-sub-par double-psychic moveset. So I guess I'm trying to find out whether people agree with the GP rating of D.

Rating of D is only effective if you have all available Mon and movesets to attack with, i.e. everyone using a B/SE T-Rex that will eat a double psychic Blissey.

For normal players who will be struggling to get a strong T-Rex will be using a fighting type (or dragon) to deal with Blissey, your movesett is great.

I have the same one and have powered her up to 2951. If you aren't using her as an attacker, then the moveset doesn't matter much. She is the best defender because of her bulk, and fifty candies will take a long time to build up again. I'll continue to feed her.

Gamepress got this one wrong. ZH/P is not the worst moveset; for defending, it is probably the second-best, behind ZH/DG.

I don't subscribe to the view that Blissey's moveset doesn't matter that much, but you have a good moveset there. If and when I get a Chansey that is worthy of evolving, I will not be at all disappointed if I get ZH/P.

No, because it does less overall damage compared to Hyper Beam, plus the dodge bug buffs strong charge moves that are easy to be dodged.

96% IV with 15 ATK IV is a beast in a gym, regardless of moveset.

Honestly, for me fighting them, there is DG then everything else. All of them are tough. Only DG really moves the needle to any extent. I would power it up for sure. He is a great mon.

For me HB ones are still the easiest to beat. But after a few fights I got used with Psychic rhythm too :).

Power it up both those moves are SE vs fighting types her weakness so yah power her up all the way

I have a ZH/P that is sitting at 2985 and do not regret powering it up one bit. I know it is a major PITA to fight solo. And like the person above both attacks are SE against fighting types.

I have another ZH/P @ 80%IV that I'm going to power up to about 2600 or so and be a mid gym blissey blocker. Sometimes it is good to have the blisseys lower in gyms just to cause problems and slow people down.

I got this move too on my 3000+ Blissey...

I keep saying don't worry so much about defenders...A guy who wants to take it down won't care and honestly, movesets will also change and Psychic is probably one very obvious one to change back to 2 bars...esp with Future Sight in the game...

You get bad move for attackers, keep evolving...bad move for defenders, stick in a gym and collect your coins...Even if they had TMs, I would not waste them on any defender honestly.

My Blisseys and Dragonite are almost always in gyms so I can care less even that my Dragonite has SW/HB. Sits near the top, not easily shavable yet, and happy to get another 10 coins/500 dust...

It could be DB/DC or DT/O and they would still be in a gym so useless to me what their moves are.

In my experience as attacker all of blissey's charge moves have their merits. HB never connects, but costs you quite a bit of energy even when dodging as well as time while you prepare for it. DG normally also doesn't connect, but comes often and hits the best attackers super effectively. Psychic, on the other hand, has hit me quite often, especially with slow attackers such as exxegutor.

Even though I consider DG the best of the bunch, I therefore respect every blissey with sufficient cp - for me this is by far the most important way of measuring its difficulty.

Thanks all for the encouraging words :-)

As I said above, I was happy anyway, just a bit disappointed with the moveset. But I feel better about that now too!
