My bad arcanine
I have an arcanine (just evolved) which has the worst moveset: bite/bulldoze. Bite is not a bad moveset, it gives more energy than fire fang, unluckily, bulldoze needs only a few energy and has no STAB bonus. I would like to use against Flareon and/or other fire-type Pokémon. What do you guys think?

Indeed, if you are looking to counter fire types, Arcanine is terrible. However, even without using charge move, Bite Arcanine is a decent attacker, and can counter top defenders like Lapras/Exeggutor easily. If you want Arcanine to be one of your main attackers, i would evolve a new one with Fire Blast, but Bite/Bulldoze is not totally useless.
Unfortunately, especially with the Arcanine nerf, it's not worth keeping.
Sometimes a Pokemon has an off-type charge move where you give up STAB but it's still useful b/c it covers some of the mon's weaknesses....like Ice Beam on Poliwrath (covering grass/flying)...or it's still useful b/c it opens up a new type of Pokemon you can attack...like Steel Cannon on Blastoise (attacking Lapras which it also resists)
Unfortunately....Bulldoze is not one of those talents. Not only does the typing not help you at all, but it's got low dmg and a horribly long cooldown for how many charges it has. It has a longer CD than Flamethrower w/ literally 1/2 the dmg (including STAB)
Sorry to say, bulldoze is those moves that makes u lose dps as compared to just spamming ur quick attack ( bite ). Something similar to vap's water pulse or gyarados' twister.
At least for vaporean's water pulse, it can still be a viable defender, but arcanine is a pretty bad defender regardless of whatever movesets.
PS, if ur interested on checking how bad water pulse is for vap on attacking, see here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMHLYKd-z0k
