Muk left off Gym Defenders Tier List?

Muk was on the previous list but is now left off the new list. Muk received an overall slight buff with CP and increased ATK but a very slight (minor) def buff.

From one guys online list it still has MUK as a top 6 "tanky" defender as he still has good STA and DEF. Plus he has a decent overall CP.

Was he missed on this new defender tier list?

Probably not. Rhydon and Golem got massive buffs and they both wreck him so hard it isn't even funny.

Seriously... Muk takes Super Effective STAB ground moves from both, and both double resist any STAB poison moves he throws at them.

EDIT: Also he's weak to Psychic. Alakazam also got a huge buff. So huge that I think he has the highest DPS in the game currently.

Alakazam might (or might not) have the highest in theory, assuming no energy waste when using Psychic, the problem is that Alakazam has to dodge pretty much every attack, and Psychic takes too long to use in between most quick moves that you end up mostly using Psycho Cut, while Dragonite can use Dragon Claw in between the opponent's quick moves to raise its overall DPS, so Dragonite's realistic DPS ends up being closer to it's theoretical DPS when compared to Alakazam.

What he said, poison is terrible offensive typing since current Fairy mons are not top tier (even less after last update). And defensively poison type got rekt in the update (golem, rhydon, alakazam). As a defender, he has very few good matchups atm, and is too easy to exploit.

Doesn't omastar also take extra damage from rhydon and golem? Granted omastar has effective attacks in return. He's all the way up at 1.5. Seems weird to drop muk completely off the list just because rhydon and golem were buffed.

At least muk has no double weakness like omastar. Seems fair to rank him alongside hypno, tentacruel, etc. at least.

Omastar is up that high because his best moveset is strong against Dragonite, Lapras, and Snorlax. He isn't pushed down all that much (if at all) by the presence of Rhydon and Golem in the meta because no one would want to risk taking double effective STAB water moves while they are attacking.

His double weakness to grass isn't as big of an issue as you might think because every relevant grass attacker got nerfed AND his best moveset is STAB rock moves which don't get resisted by grass or poison. That means his best moveset is no worse than Vaporeon when it comes to grass.

I'm just saying two Pokemon were buffed and it dropped a defender completely off the list.

This shouldn't happen because plenty of top tier defenders have huge weaknesses to common attackers and it doesn't affect their standings. Omastar was just an example, I didn't mean he should be as high as omastar.

Side note: legacy movesets shouldn't be weighed in tier lists, movesets were changes very early. Not many people have that at all. It doesn't seem very relevant other than a note in description. It gives him an extra boost in simulations because he has a wider array of moves than others, but he really doesn't for 99 percent of people.

All this talk about Muk getting wrecked by Rhydon and Golem and I ask this - Is it any different than me absolutely wrecking every Rhydon with Vaporeon since the last buffs?

Rhydon is over half-done by the time they even get 1 charge move off.

Yeah I know 1 v 1 in the current meta heavily favors the attacker no matter what but I'm not sure why Rhydon is ranked so high on the Gym Defenders list.... he's soft like butter.

Rhydon has a massive cp advantage over Muk, not really fair to compare them. And even if you do, Rhydon has its uses. Ground/rock gives good offensive coverage, he actually has good matchups against few top tier attackers. Muk has no good matchups, none of top tier attackers are weak to poison, and defensively poison is easy to exploit, especially after last update
