Moveset ratings expected to shift?

Forgive me for another one of those questions that can't be answered. Here it goes.

Are moveset grades expected to be remain the same or change. I don't know how much the fighting mechanics will change, if at all. I don't really see top defensive sets getting worse.

The way stab, SE, & NVE now work some sets could become a little better. Anyone have predictions, or better yet. Inside info?

If they don't change moves, they should keep performing the same as the did before.

However, with the new system some defenders will probably be more relevant, so some movesets might become more valuable. So lets say if a lot of psychic types become popular gym defenders. (Slowbro/-king, Espeon, Hypno...) B/C might become better/more valuable than B/SE on Tyranitar.
But we will have to wait and see.

Move rankings should change some, but nothing major. The change in multiplier will have a small effect.

They might change , mostly for Defense.
Moves that get a SuperEffective coverage will be more important than before.

Snorlax ZenHeadbutt in defense is now even more important (Now he gets 1.4 from fighting, so you need to do as much damage to be as good as before) meaning that Lick is even worse.
Same for Blissey's ZH and Pound.

Since type effectiness changed i guess non STAB moves are more viable. So Pokemon like Arcanine with Wild Charge could perform even better.

Arcanine wild charge is useless. On attack, only common defenders I can use it against is Gyarados and Lapras but hydropump = instant kill.

The AI has changed too. This will likely have a big impact on defensive move set rankings, making them more similar to offensive ranking.

Defensive ratings could shift a bit for reasons mentioned above. The offensive ratings won't change much I imagine however the non stab moves will be more useful than before.

Purely speculating, depending on exactly how raid bosses work for their ATT/STA/DEF stats to achieve high CP, faster moves will be far more useful in practice than strong slow moves. You may now need to dodge everything to even see charge moves against the stronger bosses. This rating would be soooo subjective though it would probably be better to just have a list of best counters/movesets for specific bosses and keep it completely separate from the current lists. But we don't not actually know how the raid bosses function yet so we will see.

until we know how the raid boss attacks work we won't know which is the best mon to use to attack with. It may need many players to hit it and do as much damage in the shortest space of time, do we attack with only 1 mon or a full crew, each raid boss may require a specialist attacker that inflicts maximum damage..?? fun will be trying and finding out

Right. I tried to hedge my last statement in "we shall see" but from the preliminary info that is trickling in my guess is that some combos of fast will allow for more charge moves versus death because of the super damage dealt now. It's just a guess on what may be as I said above. I imagine we will be weeks into playing the new set up before we have any realistic clarity. Even then it will possibly depend on your area for example whether you are in an area where you are fighting with groups of 5 or 20. Since a group of 20 MAY lead to much much higher charge move activity per time it could create an entire different scenario for different users in regards to particular mons.

With the introduction of TMs, more combinations will be possible e.g. DT/DC Dragonite. This can possibly lower the grades of the existing movesets like DT/Hyperbeam

I'm kind of surprised by the answers here. I think it is obvious at least some of the movesets will shift. Here at Gamepress they run simulations and I believe they take common attackers (against defenders) into account.

I'm not suggesting that certain movesets will become better, but they should at least close the gap.

An example I could think of would be with Arcanine. Fire fang would lose a little damage, which could help snarl if we add in the EPS. If you also consider that FF would be NVE against pokemon like Gyarados and Slowbro, and snarl would be SE against Slowbro, Snarl might move above FF, being rated an A moveset (with wild charge,) compared to FF which might stay a B.
