Minority teams

Minority teams are at a serious disadvantage in many areas. Less team contribution balls (in some areas, even 0 is common), less gym control balls (if the dominating team takes all the T5 gyms).

As for my area, it doesn't matter if a T5 gym is yellow. Few people care about gym control, and I'm one of the few who care, regularly seek out yellow gyms T5, and have been called crazy for walking 500m to a yellow gym T5, when there was a blue gym T5 just 100m away. I often barely get 1 team damage ball as a yellow player even at a yellow gym. Adds up to 10 balls on average (6 base, 1 PD, 1 TD, 2 GC). The highest I've got is 12 balls (1 PD, 3 TD, 2 GC). I believe this is true for majority team players too, just that they get this number of balls way more often.
For non-yellow gyms, if I'm lucky to get a yellow-heavy lobby, it's usually 9-10 balls. I've even gotten 12 at a blue gym for a Raikou raid once, before the rejoin bug was fixed. I used mainly Rhydons, so I didn't have to rejoin.

I fight a lot for gym control. I'm one of the last yellow players in my area who actively participate in gyms, and probably the last one who still fights for T5 gym control, and I regularly run into potion shortage (if they feed, I go on for a few GRB rounds before stopping), even with 2 yellow accounts (see below).
If I need pokecoins for whatever reason, I go to a "team-balanced" area nearby, there are 7 gyms there (a few in an Exraid-less park), and the gym scene there involves all 3 teams actively battling each other. My gyms there typically survive for 6 hours if I go there in the afternoon, as red will come in the evening to clear every non-red gym.

As I've said before, in order to survive in a heavily outnumbered team, and against blue multi-accounters, I had to create a yellow alt account (mainly to fill gyms to deter immediate attacks from blue players, bypass GRB feeding cap and avoid healing item shortage). In the past when shaving was rampant here, I placed a Vaporeon/Ttar on the alt account first, then switched to place the Blissey on my main account, so the Vaporeon/Ttar will get shaved first.

Playing in a minority team here has not been easy, but I still enjoy the challenge of it.

Assuming this is more of an own experience / statement (if you refer to the comment in the first line), than a question; I'm gonna answer that it's part of the game.

I'm valor and I'm dominated by blue and yellow since the beginning of time and never complained. I like the fact that they reward competition, even though it's just a matter of numbers.

Often the only thing the gym control and team bonus balls reward is being lucky to be in the majority team instead of competition. Weighing individual contribution more would be a much better way because there's no way to get lucky or carried for individual damage, it's a pure competition of who's got the most powerful team.

As explained in the reddit post, a level 20 majority team player with garbage counters can very well consistently score more raid rewards than a level 40 minority team member with top tier counters. That's not competition, that's just stupid.

Recently did a Lugia raid at a blue gym in Bedok. As expected, the first lobby took just a few seconds to reach 20 players, but only 4 (including me) were blue; more than half were red!

If I join 30 to 120 seconds after the egg hatches, the lobby tends to have more yellow (spoofer) participants.

>yellow (spoofer) participants.

That's called racism.

In our town, Mystic is easily the biggest team but least active in taking gyms relatively (except for me, I take gyms left and right, and a couple of others). Therefore our town has a pretty even division for gym control at raids between teams.

Being in an Instinct minority where Mystic dominates and Valor is close behind, I understand. When I attend raids I always get the comment that I am the token Yellow player. I often only get 7 balls to throw at Level 5 raids. I have learned to deal with being in the Minority. As far as complaints, I wish that majority teams would at least allow me to be in a gym for a couple of hours before taking me out. I often can't stay in a gym for an hour and 10 minutes is not uncommon. I have to take a lot of gyms just to get daily coins.

Instinct should have some sort of handicap.
