Mewtwo cp 2226

Finally I got my mewtwo. But IV is only 82%.
Attack 12
Defense 14
Stamina 11
Is it worth maxed out?
Or just power up to level 30?
My wife and I got ex raid pass from a small park. Only 9 people shown up for mewtwo raid.
My wife got mewtwo same time. Cp is 2227.
IV is 82%
Attack 13
Defense 13
Stamina 11
It is a little better than mine.

Congratulations to both you and your wife for finally getting a Mewtwo! :D

If I were in your shoes, I would probably wait until another potential opportunity arises to get another Mewtwo with better IVs. You could use the 82% Mewtwo you have now as a means of accumulating enough Mewtwo candies so that if/when you get a Mewtwo with better (or perfect) IVs, you can power it up immediately. Then again, it's still a Mewtwo, not a lot of people have even seen or caught one. Who knows when that next opportunity will happen. :/

Thank you for your advice. I will make Mewtwo my buddy and walk with for extra candy.

My first Mewtwo was more or less the same as yours (82%, 2226 CP). I'm still waiting on powering it up.

I would feed it enough candies to max it minus 20 or so (in case they become more common)

Mine is 71 10/12/10 and I took it to 30, it is useful. Save your buddy spot for something that earns candy faster and just save up rare candy to power up mewtwo, it only takes 66 to take one to level 30.

thanks for your info. I had 191 rare candy so I may power it up to level 30.

Mewtwo still has the highest attack stat in the game so don't worry about it having a low attack IV. It'll still do a ton of DPS even if it has 10 in all IVs. Definitely take it to level 30 because it'll still be one of your best attackers in most raids assuming it's got the generalist moveset Confusion + Shadow Ball.

Congratulations on getting one.

As for powering it up I would suggest you wait a bit.

First of all, we don't know what will happen to EX passes. Will they become more common so that the chances of getting more than one Mewtwo is atleast decent? Or will they be extremely rare and you might get on in a year?
We don't know, so even though it's tempting to power up the first one, you might, if Niantic are kind to us, get another chance in the near future. If not, then you can power it up at a later date.

This is of course unless you don't have many good Pokemons and really need a strong one, but Mewtwo isn't exactly a godlike in this game, so you can do well with other Pokemons.

I got one a while ago and it was a 91% with 15 in attack and hp (11 in defence) and I've powered it up to 3660cp. I had loads of dust and rare candies to spare, so I decided to spend some seeing as 91% is quite good.

Is it good? Absolutely.
Is it an allround monster? Not really.

In the beginning I used it all the time, in raids and when taking down gyms, but lately I don't, or else I have it as a last pick.
There are other Pokemon who are better against the ones I face in a gym.
But my Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Focus Blast is great against Tyranitar.

Feels like I'm writing too much, but to summarize:
Mewtwo is really nice, but not amazing.
You might as well wait and see if you can get a better one.
If you do, or if Mewtwo become so rare that this might be the only one you'll get, then power it up at a later date and keep is a sort of trophy :)

If you compare breakpoints and such, the difference between what you got and a 100% is pretty minuscule. ANY Mewtwo is so powerful that I wouldn't hesitate to level him up to at least 30. A Shadow Baller 82% will change the way you play the game. So would a Focus Blaster. Heck, even a Psychic. Who know when #2 will come? Carpe Mewtwo. Worst that happens is you assign the lower IV guy the moveset you're using the least.

I'm lucky enough to have two: 82% with Focus Blast and 76% with Shadow Ball. I powered both of them up without hesitation. Why?

- It's Mewtwo, and I'm lucky to have been invited to two EX raids and caught both of them. Most players are not so lucky.

- It's the strongest of any mon in the game. And, if the ones from gen 3 with higher stats currently are nerfed (as I expect), it'll stay that way.

- I could have left them alone (in particular the 76% one) and hoped for a future invite and a chance to get another. But then I figured what were the odds of a) getting another invite (I haven't yet), b) being blessed by the RNG gods with higher IVs, and c) catching it. So I decided to not look a gift horse in the mouth and power my two up as far as I can.

Worst case: I do get another invite and I catch a higher IV one. Woe would be me to then have 3 Mewtwo, right? But in the mean time, I have two high-powered mon that I use every single day.

I maxed my 73 IV one with 10 attack. No regrets. No Confuiosn or Psyco cut breakpoint missed on Raikou or other old or new raid boss where I've verified.

BUT it was more than 1 month ago, when things were unclear with ex raids. Now that they appear to end the testing phase, I will power him up if you have resources to max the 2nd one. If not, I still think level 30 is worthy, more so if you already spent charge TMs on it (if I get it right).

You can see more answers in the similar thread I've made back then :): https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/i-want-max-101112-mewtwo-advise-not

I powered up my 80% with 11 Attack and PC/SB. It was the move set I wanted, no TMs required. And I've been having fun with it for more than a month rather than staring at it everyday, useless at L20 and neurotically waiting for a better one. Considering M2's 300 base Attack, the number of situations in which a 15 Attack IV will be meaningfully better than 11 are minuscule.

Carpe Mewtwo, indeed.

I've had a 80% w/10 atk Mewtwo for about 2 months now. I just completely maxed it out. It has confusion/ psychic for moves. I went from struggling on Machamp raids before the Mewtwo to being able to beat them easily after powering up my Mewtwo to level 30 after a couple days of having it. I'd say go for it, and enjoy using your Mewtwo
