Meteor Mash Metagross Role

Is Meteor Mash Metagross only useful as a generalist. If you have to think of a non-gym role where it would really excel, what would that be? Are there upcoming raids that you could see fitting this steel beast's niche?

Currently, its a destroyer of Piloswine raids, Kirlia raids, and a good option to use in non-dark charge move sneasel raids.

Rarely have CD pokemon been useful the second they are released, most have their use come as raids in he next month or so. Down the line, it will be fantastic agaisnt Kyurem and teration (outpacing machamp by a mile against both) and being the (likely) undisputed top Xerneas counter. Those raids arent for a while, but at present, its a fantastic gym generalist, resisting most/all defenders aside from metagross itself or the odd vaporeon or gyarados, and being great at taking down all those annoying Gardevoir and Clefairy.

Yeah until fairy pokemon become more prominent, Metagross will be a good overall pokemon. The only big upcoming fairy is Togekiss I believe. And Gen 5 doesn't really have that many? I can't think of any atm

Anything where steel is super effective, and nothing is doubly super effective, should probably result in Metagross being the optimal DPS counter or at least a decent option. I believe rampardos will out DPS with Rock type damage, so if there's also a weakness to rock he won't be the best. Mewtwo and the dragons may also out DPS.

I believe that is fairy, Rock, ice, and dragon.

Dragon it probably isn't, the dragons are too strong in general offensively (also dragons have double typing - potential for double weakness, or other type to eliminate weakness to steel).

So your target is fairy, Rock, or ice type raids that don't have a double weakness.

Great against ice- and rock-types (as well as fairy), so against T3s like Piloswine, Jynx, Granbull, and Aerodactyl, and T4s like Golem and Rhydon, it should be great.

Also, if Alolan Ninetales is ever a T3 raid boss...
