Hype! Didn't see this shared on here yet so I thought I'd spread the good news. By almost I mean that the damage window is different, but both are 2-bar, 100-damage, 2.6s duration charge moves.

The event is later than morning for a large portion of Europe. And you could say literally the exact same words about Saturday. In the end Niantic wants you to play according to their schedule, not your schedule. It's probably worth money to them in the long run that they condition us to this behavior.
Which is pretty big. Lugia, Ho-Oh, Entei and others used to be viable slow but tanky alternatives to beating up Blisseys if you were low on potions or couldn't dodge properly. Metagross blows every other slow option out of the water AND counters most mons that one would put behind Blissey to scare Machamps.

We go through the exact same thing just about every community day, “It’s the highest Dps against this that and the other” “It’s the highest DPS in the game in this or that weather!!!”, “It’s going to break the Meta!!!” “It’s going to be the best of its type for all generations!!!”. Stop falling for the hype and click bait articles and YouTube videos!!!!
1. I don't see a single post overexaggerating any of these points you mention. No one is saying it will break the meta or be the best of it's type forever and always.
2. The hype isn't based on a YouTuber's video, but rather, information datamined from the game's code for Meteor Mash's stats. PokemonMasterHolly's tweet showed MM as a 2-bar 90dmg move. What we have here is even better.
3. It's going to be good. Really, really good.
