Why isn't Metagross Tier 1 in the Attackers Tier List? It beats Kyogre and Machamp in almost every single way.

The list is updated every month, so I suspect that it'll be up there soon. Personally, I'd put it in Tier 2 as it doesn't have too many relevant raid match-ups as of now.

Steel is just effective vs. ice rock and fairy. These types are not so common. I´m also missing Scizor or Pinsir for t3 or 4. Not the highest dps but there is no other bug attacker and it´s the best choice vs. Exeggutor.

Gym defense gardevoir? MM Metagross' existence actually took it out of gym defense almost entirely from what i've seen

relevance doesnt always put an attacker in those spots, look at kyogre sitting there.

i know. but how often can you sweep faster through an arena with a bunch of normal pokemon then with machamp? gardevoir is not a common defender.
MM Metagross is nice. extreme high damage but not often super effective and not often weather boosted.

Probably the same reason Gengar is not higher. It’s a legacy/exclusive move that you can’t get anymore, and not everyone had a chance to get one.

Shadow Claw Gengar is a beast against non normal types. But not everyone has one.

Things like that haven't stopped rating for attackers and solo's from listing legacy moves in top counters. I agree they are limited and not everyone has them, but ratings for things are based on purely stats and does this pokemon exist, not does everyone have one, like SC gengar and RT/RS omastar

But also with gengar, the attacker's list is both gyms and raids, and Gengar's only good in psychic os ghost raids, its absolute garbage against gyms because its always stacked with the normal tanks. MM Metagross is usable agaisnt the normal tanks, unlike gengar.

My guess is that it's a type thing and the fact that the only moveset that puts in on the tier list at all is a CD exclusive. It's a great generalist, so it's there with Dragonite and the others.

Machamp is in Tier 1 for specific reasons of gym-meta relevance and punching out Ttars, which Metagross doesn't beat it at.

Metagross can knock out a blissey without needing to dodge, something machamp cant do, as well as handle gardevoir, and with the GRB drop nerf, that also hits Blissey/chan/Lax pretty hard as peope will be less inclined to use them when they get into the 60's of them

But I do agree with tyranitar, though gen 4 might bring an end to reason to raid tyranitar for meta relevance, but metagross also does get super effective damage on tyranitar, but machamp does hit it harder

Because unupdated attacker list, its honestly the best nonlegendary attacker/generalist with Meteor mash.

Once the list is updated, I'm guessing that MM Metagross will move up in the ranks. It's one of very few Pokemon that combines high neutral damage output with respectable bulk/resistances. It's easily become my favorite Mon for clearing through gyms, as it resists most things defenders throw at it, allowing it to tank its way through a gym while also outputting good damage. The few things that it is weak to tend to not be high priority defenders anyways. In raids, it's often a decent generalist (and tank) for rounding out teams, and performs exceptionally well against Togetic.

Metagross is an elite gym attacker but much less useful for raids. The tier list has to strike a balance between areas where gym offence is barely relevant and areas where gym offence is far more important while legendary raids are too easy. In contrast, Machamp is not only an essential gym attacker, but also the optimal counter to Tyranitar, Absol, the Regis and Dialga.
