Meet my first Lucky Pokemon.

Only reason for not immediately spending dust and CTMs (I have 15) on him is that Gen IV is around the corner. That I have a 96% and three 93% Gastlys saved for a possible Community Day is a smaller factor (those will never be lucky). Is Dark Pulse (which is also legacy) that terrible?

Dark Pulse is not bad, but with shadow ball its stab and just a great move. You will want shadow ball.

I hope it does not come for a community day. I know spoofers who are sitting on several 100 gastlys waiting for it.

I'm sure Niantic will crap on the long time players and give them out at some point. Just like with the body slam snorlaxes. Just like giving Zapdos thundershock for the event only.

No need to even have spoofed or used maps in the past, Gastly is one of the most common research rewards which hugely ups the likelihood of players having a few good copies of it. I'm sitting on 2 100%s, 2 98%s and 6 96%s just in case.

Congratulations, that's a good one.

Dark Pulse is that terrible. Against psychic mons, SC/DP Gengar deals about as much damage as S/FP Houndoom. You would be getting a 25% DPS increase by TMing to Shadow Ball.
If you prioritize collecting legacy moves, keep DP, if you prioritize having a useful gengar, TM to SB.

This is it. Shadow Ball is awesome. I lead with my Gengar in every single ghost-weak raid (Lugia, Latis, Alakazam, Gengar, A-Raichu, and others). Dark pulse is definitely worse than shadow ball on Gengar.
