Meaning of single IV values

Can anybody please help?
What ist the exakt meaning of the single IV values? For instance: Is a Pokemon with Attack IV of 15 and over all IV of 80% as good an attacker as the same Pokemon with 100% IV (same moveset)? Or does the defense IV value also have a an influence in an attack situation?

Defense IV values don't influence how much damage a pokemon deals per hit. So anny pokemon with 15 atk IV of the same species and with the same moves will deal the same amount of damage.

However, defense IV's do inderectly increase your damage. The higher the stam IV and defense IV, the longer it will take for your pokemon to faint, so the more damage he can deal. (because he's alive longer and therefor can attack more) But this difference is only marginal though.

I hope this is clear enough.

A 15att IV will let the mon hit breakpoints at lower levels for its attacks on a defender or boss. The defense IV (for an attacking mon) will keep the defender/boss from hitting those same breakpoints against you at lower mon levels. HP IV obviously influences health or hit points and is a factor of how long your mon can survive and keep attacking (or defending).

Mon level at which a particular attack will reach its full level of damage. This fluctuates by species, attack, etc. Mostly, trainers are concerned with the breakpoint of the mon's fast attack only.

Considering Lapras (set at 15att IV), for example, the fast attack Frost Breath reaches a breakpoint around mon level 29.5, where any additional power ups will not result in incresed damage into a particular defender/boss.

When damage is calculated, it is rounded down to the nearest whole number.

For example, if two different pokemon would calculate 7.0 and 7.9 damage, they will both deal 7 damage. For that second polemon, a few extra IV points or a few more power ups might push it up to 8.x damage per fast attack, vastly increasing its damage output over the fight.
