May we PLEASE get more Pokémon storage?!

They keep adding and adding Pokemon, which is definitely great and all, but I’m running out of places to put them! They seem to think they’re like the original Pokémon games (where you can get by with fewer mons), but they’re not. In the original games you didn’t “need”, let’s say, 6 rock throw/stone edge golems and then 6 smack down tyranitars, etc, to beat a raid boss or anything. Plus lucky Pokémon, legacy move Pokémon, hat-Pikachus (and Pichus) like every 2 weeks, community day mons, mons from international/nostalgia, etc etc etc.... I’m so sick of feeling “suffocated” so will you please give us some “breathing room” for heavens sake?! I would be very grateful

You'd think niantic would want to be boosting it, they must be aware of how much pokemon we are holding onto for double candy distance trades, they'd make a ton of money from expending storage

I can’t even do that cuz I have no where near enough room to hold onto things just for trades. I wish I could... I’d just like to be able to hold onto a good gen 4 mon if I find one! I’ve been a hardcore grinder since the beginning (have multiple 100%ers from the first month of the game alone, for example) and I imagine that, because of this, I have a lot more Pokémon to hold on to than most cuz I’ve never “skipped a beat”. Most people didn’t even know about iv’s for the first couple months of the game till the in game appraisal was added.

*I know their moves suck but they’re legacy/double legacy moves. Which means I can’t really use them or get rid of them AND I need to get a good one with the actual useful move set... Basically, I’m in a pickle lol

Sorry for all the pics! lol 😬 How many people do you know with a scald poliwhirl? (The ONLY pokemon able to learn this move and that went legacy very quickly, so now none can learn this move)

They must be aware that they would be printing money if they made new storage upgrades available so that means there must be something keeping them from doing it. It's possible that it would create more issues with performance, which they're trying to solve first.

It's become a regular pasttime for me to scroll through my storage looking for things I can expunge, the situation is pretty bad.

If we're talking about that, how about pokemon storage with two parts, active and inactive, which you can't raid or gym battle with. When you take a pokemon out of inactive storage, it takes up an active space, but you can't use it at all for 24 hours. Maybe 500 active and 5000 inactive. Also easier to manage - I get tired of scrolling through non meta relevant stuff to find what I want to fight with.

If only people were able to be more selective with what they keep.
No you don't need those 16 Snorlax's, or 12 shiny Bulbasaurs. Get rid of'em!!!
I'm only at 950, and wouldn't even be so if Niantic gave us a double-candy transfer to prof special for Halloween -_- (God this event sucks hard)

tldr; throw out the crap stuff you're holding onto

Exactly I'm at 1,050 mainly cause i'm holding out on Double Candy event but I have a feeling we won't see that until either Valentines or Summer.

I am very selective about what I keep. Like I said above, I’ve been collecting longer and harder than most and I don’t expect many people to understand (but I’m sure a couple will) cuz they can’t relate.. I did/do transfer/trade away as much as I can, even cool mons like Dragonites and snorlaxs (or whatever it was you mentioned) but I do want to keep a Dragonite or 2 with the dragon claw (personal fav/legacy), a couple outrages (best move) and a couple Draco meteors (in case it ever gets a buff/major use [i.e. like splash damage if that’s ever necessary]) and that’s at least 6 of just one mon right there (not even counting the shiny form...). Yeah, that poliwhirl is useless but it’s one of the rarest mons in the game because of his move so don’t expect me to get rid of “junk” like that...

Just keep the ones with the best current moveset and legacy movesets (if they are worthy, no need to keep a Rapidash with ember when fire spin is avaible, i have one but very few people would want to trade it since it's weaker and not a meta pokemon anyway). Now you can TM moves so if Draco Meteor gets a buff just switch your Outrage Dragonites to Draco Meteor. Hope it helps!

Effing casuals.
No, you don't need 16 Snorlaces, but you might want to keep one of each moveset in case Niandicks decide to make them legacy.
That's 8 Snorlax. Not including shiny.
Now let's take Gyarados. It's got 20 combinations, if you got one of each moveset. And there is shiny Gary.
"Gotta catch'em all", not "Gotta transfer'em all".

Is anyone forcing you to own all 20 variations? No.
See, this is the problem you create for yourselves. This self-imposed target of collecting every variation when it really doesn't matter. That's why you're capped, and we're not.

No one is forcing anyone to own all variations. No one is forcing anyone to play this game. No one is forcing anyone to buy coins in the game. No one is forcing anyone to comment is this forum.

You can't really blame people for keeping everything. It's a collecting game, not a battling game. Gym battles are a joke, raids are only challenging cause of the limitations the players set themselves (trying to solo/duo/trio etc, using specific Pokemon) and by far the hardest challenge is collecting (perfect mons, shinies, legacy movesets)

To add to that, Niantic decides once in a while to radically change the stats formula and completely change moves/movesets, rewarding you for keeping Pokemon that you wouldn't consider valuable at the time. Rewarding you for playing or evolving or using TMs during random or scheduled time windows that let you get exclusive moves due to events or bugs. If a trainer wants to have a valuable/rare collection he can't be selective.

So Niantic can have a battling game and settle for a better battle system with standard moves and stats that can only accept minor balance changes. I bet most trainers would trash over 50% of their collection in that case

or Niantic can have a collecting game and let trainers collect with thousands of Pokemon slots. Collectors can put up with an unbalanced and simplistic battle system as long as they can collect.

Middle ground is terrible

There's been a lot of discussion about this on TSR since it and the stat change are the two most delayed announcements. General consensus is the method of storing Pokemon must be at a limit or need reworking or something since it's taking so long. You'd think this would be higher on their priority list since people are bursting at the seams and willing to shell out coins for it.

But no, hotfixes like keeping Shadow Ball legacy are much more pressing.

+1
Niantic obviously couldn't buy a few more HDDs, they spent the money on game designers who make various hats for Pikachu.
More storage space, now!!

My storage is filled up by a lot of those stupid hat Pikachu that can't be selected and it hasn't become enough of a problem for me to take the time to transfer them one at a time.

When is this going to happen? for Gen one only [ not including luckys, legacy moves and pretending you only keep one of each legendary. ] If you keep one of each: male, female, genderless, shiny, special style [[like S Squad or Hat Pikas etc ]], special style shiny, Special move sets [[ BB Charizard, HC Blastoise etc ]] and shiny special move sets. That's 374 Pokemon. Who has one Dragonite/ one Zapdos/ one Charizard/ one Arcanine/ one Mewtwo? Collectors need more space!
