This May have been asked

But in the Silph road APK Mine of the new update, it is speculated that players can only put down a maximum number of pokemon, meaning like every person can only have 8-10 pokemon holding gyms at the same time. Would you all want to see this? I think it makes sense because the coins are based of how long your pokemon stays in and not how many gyms you have.

Yea i'd like that, it never made sense to me that some people could hold like 50 gyms.

The number needs to be reasonable though, 3-4 is kinda low.

3-4 is WAY too low, especially with the increased number of gyms. Where did you get those numbers?

I would be very disappointed if legit players encountered the cap, even playing heavily - I was under the impression that it was meant more as a measure to curtail the activity of spoofers.

I was just throwing a number out there to be honest going above 8 is pointless.... Plus i heard someone mention on here the Cap for a day is 100coins. When this is updated i highly doubt anyone will be holding a gym for longer than 24 hours.

8 is still too low. But yes there should be a max number of gyms one can hold. Somewhere between 15-20.

We have a group that we play with and we defend our territory very well. 8 gyms isn't going to cut it.

In our city there was good representation from all 3 teams and everyone had their own territory with massive battles going on in between.

Ok let's say you have 17 gyms. All your pokemon are defeated in 4-5 hours of being laid in a gym. with this "100 coins per day max" let's just throw out idk, you get 10 coins when the pokemon returns. if all 17 of those pokemon return to you, you have 7 pokemon come back without coins because you already passed the max. That is a waste of your pokemon and slots in gyms for your own team. And you may say you hold gyms fairly well, but lets see how frequent raids appear, you could lose half of those gyms to raid.

I battle gyms because I enjoy it. I like defending our territory. I like showing off my pokes/defenders that I worked hard on powering up and collecting candies for.

You are looking at it wrong. It has nothing to do with coins for me. I could care less if I have 7 pokes returned without coins. I'm fine with that. I will beat the gym and take it back and put my poke in the gym.

I get enjoy the battles and turning gyms our team's colours. Nothing wasteful about it. It is how I want to play and enjoy the game.

And losing gyms to raids? After a raid is done the pokemon are returned to the gym as it was prior to the raid. Now having said that it is likely there are members from the opposite team at the raid and could then take down the gym too. That's fine.

Gyms are different now. Having a pokemon in a gym defending it yields bonuses to the trainer such as powering up the gym badge and getting better items when spinning the disc at the gym your pokemon is defending.

I don't know about you but I will still hoard gyms just to get golden berries.

I read that completely differently.... As in if your Team Color Controls it, you get more items. no sense in arguing, will not matter. This was found and Niantic will decide a reasonable amount to max out at.

There is a little more to it.

The information is scattered all over the Pokémon Go website but I believe by next week all questions will be answered because by then the gyms will be open :)

If the number is 3-4 gyms I really hope a lot of people stop paying money. It makes no sense to put a cap that low when you can get a max of 100 coins per day. The cap should be always there but more around 15-20 in order to stop spoofers and botters, not destroy free to play players experience and make them impossible to get 100 coins per day.

Why would I spend all my time on a gym if I can't even get there because I am already at 4? I don't think they want that, a gym cap that low will make people play a lot less every day and make gyms stagnant like they have been before. Niantic should not be that stupid to even think about using a cap that low for gyms.

Again the number isn't official just threw it out there. But again the max coins per day is 100... I think this system may be put in place for gyms to be more active and fast changing, honestly it should be 8-10 gyms. by putting it down to 6 slots you are already fighting your own team enough to get into a gym. you all are throwing out 15-20 like everyone has that time. i am throwing 3-4 because that is THE BEST i can do in my day. Again 3-4 is just thrown out there. But it should be 8-10, 15-20 is ridiculous IMO.

But if a lot of people actually have the time or the area to get to that 15-20 playing legally so why cap them just because you can only get to 3-4? I have no problem on legal players being on 20 gyms if they can hold them as long as the do it legally, and also with this new system I don't think a lot of players will travel again in order to get into a 6 slot gym that you have to feed to maintain...

People will be more focused on their area and all gyms will be level 6 always because there is no prestige, there will be more action almost for sure with the cap of no repeated mon so why limit them in the amount of gyms they can be to that low amount?

The limit should never be below the amount of coins you can get per day, and a part from that you should give players that are more hardcore something extra, so I really think that 15-20 is a good number, low enough to stop spoofers and botters and good for people that play more hours.

I will tell you spoofers won't stop because of 15-20. it will take probably 10 for casual players to actually enjoy the gym experience with casual players, based purely on the fact that spoofers will have 10 less gyms per account. I understand your point, but we must agree to disagree on this matter. We both obviously agree on the cap, i'll take that.

If the limit is 3-4 then I don't need to think about powering up any more defenders. I don't think this low number makes any sense if you want 6 mons in a gym unless you love someplace like sf or NYC. I'm sure it's more, but I don't think I could manage more than 11-12.

Changed number 8-10 instead of 3-4 because people are just pointing that out. Point of post was to introduce link and point out that alot was mined out. There will be a cap and Spoofers are being restricted greatly in this update. Everyone chill, this is all speculation anyway.

Love this idea! 15 at most should be high enough. High enough to always get your max with a 5 mon buffer but low enough to screw all the ocd gym horders.
.
Although I base that number on old gym dynamics.

Yeah, apparently alot of people see 15 as a good amount. I don't see 20 the point is Niantic wants to stop spoofers, and some spoofers can hold 20-100 gyms. keep the number relatively intermediate.

Yeah...i suppose for a overall game health point of view, it will be beneficial.

I am happy at around 10 defenders. I think ive only really had about 11 at any one point.

By not allowing overkill players with like 50 defenders, it opens up allot of space for other players who just want a more normal amount of defenders.

I like the idea of focusing much more on fewer more close by gyms anyway, maybe a selection of gyms around you or in your local park, and maintaining them, instead of just going for sheer quantity across a huge area.

Up

That is what i am trying to say, They gym scene is not supposed to be quantity based anymore.... quality. Lay down your 10 best gym defenders and feed them.

Make it 20 and we have a deal. I worked hard on my defenders and that is how I want to spend my time playing. I like the defend my turf part of it and gym battling. Much more than catching pokemon.

I agree that spoofers need to be stopped 100% and limiting them to X number of gyms is a good thing. Just it needs to be higher than 10.

I like going across the city to help fellow teammates take and defend gyms. They need the help I will come. Would be nice to put a poke in those gyms once I have helped them.

Limiting to 20 is better than nothing. I've seen entire cities dominated by spoofers. And considering all this people are playing without cheating, considerate that you will most likely need to go to each gym and feed your pokemon, its a lot of work and resources just to maintain them. I think the cap is more for spoofers who can teleport to their pokes than to legal players as is going to be REALLY hard to maintain 20 gyms for example (I support you on having just about 10 gyms btw)

Trust me i agree with the statement, limiting gyms is better than nothing.

Limited number of gym slots per trainer is great.
If Niantic can't ban all the spoofers, at least they are trying to limit them. I really appreciate that.

10 seems like more than enough.

I would definitely approve of it. I would say 15/20 would be just fine. Of course spoofers are going to be against it cause they can't have 100 pokemon in gyms and go months at a time collecting coins without doing anything.
Niantic is also rolling out an anticheat method where pokemon caught using bots, tracking maps or other third party apps will have a red slash through them. And those pokemon will essentially become useless.
So hopefully since they're getting serious about Pokemon Go, they'll start seriously taking out cheaters

I know it does not have much to do with the gymnasium limit that every trainer can occupy, but I wish there were bonuses for people using a good range of defenders within that limit, 15-20 is a good limit on my opinion. Instead of dropping a Blissey or Snorlax by gym, the trainer would put other pokémons just to gain something to recive an reward for it.
