Maximum gym takeovers

I noticed after fighting and taking over 12 gyms one night that when I went to collect my medals, it only gave me credit for 10 gyms, even though none of the 12 had been taken by another team yet. Is there a max amount of gyms you can beat in a day?

Answers

There's no defending gym limit, but the reward is capped @ 10 gyms, 5k stardust, 100 pokecoins every 21 hours

You can take over as many gyms as you like, but you can only collect coins from 10 gyms.
