Does anyone have experience with pitting Magneton against Lapras? Magneton with Discharge has two electric attacks, both with STAB, which are effective against Lapras. The other way round, Magnetons steel type renders both ice and dragon attacks of Lapras ineffective. This should be enough to overcome the 60% gap in CP at the same level.
I find Magnaton with Spark and Discharge surprisingly effective against Lapras. Due to the short attack time, you are able to dodge all Lapras attacks.
I am using Magnaton quite often to train gyms. For attacking gyms, I would recommend Arcanine or Flareon as they will probably last longer than just Lapras.
