A Magikarp nest? How is this possible

The nest migration has occurred several hours ago, the local sports center has been changed into a Magikarp nest! Wait, hold on, a Magikarp nest? Isn't it a biome-based Pokémon that rarely spawns in normal spawn points?

It's nothing uncommon. A whole park (very large area) in my city became Magikarp nest for the second time already last week. It also sports several sub-nests for other mons.

Magikarp do nest. I've caught so many of them at a park, though I have yet to have found a shiny. At least I got a 98% one that's now a Gyarados.

Try wearing the Magikarp hat. I thought it was stupid, and have been catching 'karp at a local water spot, never had a shiny. Put the hat on, very next catch was shiny. Haven't caught one since, with hat on and off. That one thing could be a little Easter Egg - more research needed to confirm. Or maybe just 1st catch in hat is guaranteed shiny.

Kind of late now since karp spawns are gone from parks that don't require going into the other half of my city. But thanks for the info, I will try it if I run into a karp somewhere.

Mine was squirtle during the event, I got 350 candies. It is early in morning, but from radar I can tell it isn't that anymore--looks like drowzee. If magicarp nests weren't a thing, highly doubt I would have 5 gyarados 2900-3000. Water fest was fun, but not that fun

Our local Pikachu nest became Yanma. Happy with both.

I believe as long as it's a nesting species, it can nest anywhere. My local park used to be a houndoor nest despite me never seeing one in the UK.

Had a houndour nest near my house, then it turned into staryu (I was soooo not up for trying to catch those pesky stars and I already had a Starmie that's acceptably strong). Now it's a Growlithe nest. Hoping the rain will stop so I can go hunt some down. Maybe I can get a stronger Arcanine.
