Machamp vs Hariyama

I'm working towards getting a full set of lvl40 Fighting types, and due to past experiences I'm doubting whether 6x Machamp is the uncontested better option. In terms of sheer DPS it's undeniably better, but I'm wondering if 5x Machamp and a single Hariyama isn't better to provide a bit of bulk. Hariyama's TDO is much better due to his HP stat.

So what would you do? 6x Machamp, or 5x Machamp + 1x Hariyama?

If you're aiming for the Ttar duo (the most common use for 6 maxed machamp squad), the 6 Machamp setup usually gets through fine, but things may get ropey with Iron Tail+ Fire blast moveset. For this purpose I advocate 5 Machamp+1 Hariyama, it should provide more than enough cushion for you to finish the raid in time and not faint out, for all movesets.

For Aggron duo, Hariyama is not good enough.

For Absol duo, you can do it without maxed machamps anyway

Sounds pretty much like my reasoning: "Maxing 1 Hariyama can't hurt". Thanks for confirming.

Not like you need maxed Machamps for the Tyranitar duo either. 6 Champs that hit the counter breakpoint should do it and some have even pulled it off with level 30 squads which simulation shows is possible.

Survivability is the issue for lower level squads, and fire blast (whether if bite or IT doesn't matter) is the main problem as level 30s will get dodge glitched out. For Stone Edge and crunch, maybe its ok.

Counter breakpoint machamps are fairly reasonable for the solo already but the level 40 one makes it ever so sure that you'll win.

Indeed. I tried the duo initially with both maxed and breakpoint Machamps and there is a pretty clear difference in survivability against some movesets. A fast max revive and rejoin also works but of course that's dependent on hardware and connection.

5x Machamp and 1x Hariyama is a great team. I might even suggest it be a 4x Machamp and 2x Hariyama - which is what I'm aiming for because I generally bring my daughter's account with me on raids, so I can't dodge.

At the very least, having that Hariyama gives you 20-30 seconds where you don't have to worry about dodging. Depending on how well you can dodge (which is more of a comment on your phone's potential speed and your connections potential strength than your ability to actually dodge as a player), you might want the 2 Hariyama's so you can concentrate on straight damage output and not on trying to dodge Charged Moves at the same time.
