Lugia even harder to catch than kyogre?

I've heard lots of nasty stuff about kyogre but i think lugia is worse from my experience.

At least you can circle lock kyogre and from my experience kyo can be caught even with no bonuses. Lugia cannot be circle locked and just doesn't stay in the ball even if you get greats, and since he cannot be circle locked excellents are really hard to get.

I don't know about now since people are smarter and they may change the distance but at that time where people don't know how to throw when the poke attacks it's a disaster and also i think pretty far away.

Has anyone thought about this?

Lugia CAN be circle locked, the thing that caused it harder was the Curve bug.

I think when it attacks it flips then resets the circle like voltorb or torchic.

Never had problems with the curve bug as soon as I learned how it works, since you could get guaranteed curves hitting the right section of the circle.
But how exactly was circle locking for Lugia possible? I was never able to do it.

It actually couldn't be caught with the ring-trick.
The circle didn't stay in the size when releasing the finger, it kept changing size when not touching the screen.

The circle lock trick was achievable for Lugia. There were two things that, at the time, made it trickier to catch.
1. Lugia was significantly closer than the other three birds, so players had to significantly alter their throw distance for it, which often threw people off.
2. Lugia had a 2% base catch rate (which is what most legendaries we've gone up against have), while the other 3 birds had a 3% base catch rate, so it was slightly more common for Lugia to break free and fly away.

Nope, the circle kept changing size even after adjusting it to the size you wanted.
Lugia couldn't be caught by using the so called "ring-trick"

Two more elements to consider:

1) Lugia's attack animation moved its hitbox way up high, meaning the circle was centered much higher than immediately before the throw (made it somewhat difficult to predict its location

2) Lugia required an exceptionally far and high throw, meaning that users with small phones (Like me and my iPhone 5) had a hard time throwing and hitting it anywhere other than its foot

Also lugia bobbed up and down like a bish

For that time Lugia was much different to other throw hitboxes. Players these days are more experienced. If it returns, players will have a better time catching it.

Tell me about it. I haven't been able to catch a Lugia in about 8 months.

Lugia is the number 1 mon i wish they'd bring back, was under rated at the time, difficult to organise groups for to, but people arer much better equiped now days.

Just did 2 lugia today. Its no better, maybe even worse. The circle bug is fixed, but it's impossible to hit the circle due it being way too close, and the circle getting smaller before it's attack animation is even done. I think it's just a bug though, and they will fix it like many legendaries people have issues with. Out of 2 raids and 23 balls I was able to get 2 excellent curve throws while timing it. I had to leave the circle at great, then after the first flip I did a quick spin, stop the ball in the middle for a moment, then a straight curve throw. When the ball hit lugia was centered, and the circle was in the excellent zone. Everything else I do just hits it at its feet due to its attack animation being ridiculous lol.
