Lucky Trades Logistics

I understand that trading Pokémon from 7/2016 guarantees 10 lucky trades. Experimenting with this I've found that this rule only requires one party to contribute a 7/2016 Pokémon for both trainers to receive a lucky.

My question is this: once I reach 10 lucky trades, if I trade with someone who hasn't reached 10 yet and one of us trades a 7/2016 Pokémon, will we both get lucky Pokémon?

If there are any other intricacies regarding lucky trades that aren't discussed on the general trading info section please also educate me about that too.

Thanks!

The guaranteed lucky trades are a catchup mechanic for people that were playing when the game first came out, left the game, and are just coming back. It allows those players to receive up to 10 good pokemon that they may have missed out on.

If a player has received less than 10 lucky trades, and that player trades a pokemon from July or August of 2016, that trade is guaranteed to be lucky. It doesn't matter how many lucky trades the other player has received or the catch date of the pokemon they are trading. The player trading a Jul/Aug 2016 pokemon must be the player with less than 10 lucky trades.

So does one person hitting the 10 lucky trades threshold kill the modifier for both people?

As I said above only one 7/2016 seems to be necessary for Both trainers to get a lucky. My friend and I are five-for-five both getting luckies when only one of us contributes a 7/2016.

If one person hits their 10th lucky trade, then that person's 2016 July/August Pokémon will no longer guarantee a lucky trade. The odds will still be (most likely) as good as they can get, as trading using a Pokémon that old has been known to increase the chances of going lucky, but not guaranteed.

The only way for someone who has already had 10 lucky trades to make a trade that is guaranteed to go lucky is if their partner hasn't had 10 lucky trades of their own AND that partner is the one trading their own July/August Pokémon.

Lastly, a lucky trade will always result in lucky Pokémon for both trainers. There's no such thing as making a trade and only one of the Pokémon going lucky; you and your partner's destinies are tied. :)

- July and August 2016 pokemon guarantee lucky.
- The person with less than 10 luckies must provide the Jul/Aug 2016 pokemon to guarantee the lucky.
- Jul/Aug 2016 pokemon still have a higher rate of lucky when both have more than 10 luckies. But it's no longer guaranteed.
- Yes, any trade with lucky outcome will grant a lucky for both players.
