Lucky situation

So here is my situation: I could only play 1 day of Lv5 raids with friends this "hoenn adventures days", but i turned out very lucky: ended up with 1 groudon and 1 kyogre out of 2 raids, both of them 89%. Im on holidays now, wont be able to play anymore until february, so no more raids for me. A friend can trade me more, and i can do the lucky trick of Aug. 2016 just one more time. I dont mind about dust, but the 12/12/12 base. My question is, wich one to choose? The ogre seems better, but only has one moveset, thunder and blizzard are underhelming. On the other hand groudon can use SoB and quake, and having one of each seems tempting, but im not convinced yet. Some advice? (Sorry if my english is not good, im from Argentina)

Solarbeam on Groudon isn't as good as it used to be. It isn't the top grass attacker anymore with that since he doesn't have a fast grass attack. But to answer your question, I'd go with Groudon. The only other ground type that gets close to him is Rhyperior but he is much harder to have ATM than Groudon. HOWEVER, Kyogre hits much harder and water type is more relevant in general. Ground hits more type for SE damage but ground is a bad type currently in GO. Whatever you choose in the end won't be a bad decision IMO. Just make sure that your friend doesn't have 10 luckys already too otherwise you may scrap a good legendary;)

The friend already having 10 luckies doesn't matter. All that matters is that the one trading the jul/aug 2016 pokemon has less than 10.

I'd go for a lucky Groudon. Because it's very good for PvP. But if you don't care about PvP any of them would be fine. You already have one of each for PvE. They will come back sometime again in the future.
Get the one you fancy the most.

Why is the choice between Kyogre and Groudon? Why not something else?

But between those two, the choice depends on what you value and what you need. Both have acceptable non-legendary alternatives, Kyogre is more above the non-legendaries in performance but Groudon is better in PvP.
Like said already, SoB Groudon isn't as valuable as it used to be. Several grass-types outclass it now and more are coming.

The choice is between those 2 because i only have 1 of each, the chances of getting a better one than 89% are high, and TBH im tired of saving "my last guaranteed lucky" and not been able to do any trade in case it turns out lucky (last CD everyone were trading totodiles and i refuse to do it). I think I'll go with groudon, PvP is better than raids (wich are Trivial to solos nowadays, and lv4 and 5 depends more on amount of people than the difference between kyogre and gyarados) and to take a gym 1 kyogre is enough. But if you have better options of a better lucky to do please tell me

This last lucky should be a Pokemon that you will most likely max out. That way you save the most stardust. Trade for a level 20/25 something valuable for you. That is at least what I have done with my ten lucky’s. I choose to have Rayquaza and Mewtwo lucky, for the rest it where Tyra’s with smackdown and other CD mons that I missed.

My point is: you should not choose just between Groudon and Kyogre. If you want one or the other, sure go for it, but there are many, many other good options too!

Goodluck haha

Yes, i already have lucky mewtwo, CD mons i have enough of them (tyra and MM metagross lucky) and kyogre for gyms and raids im done powering him up to 30-35. Groudon for PvP is a lv40 must, and at that level dust will be a concern. Didnt know the red alligator was so better than his counterpart in that regard, i thoght they were similar.. so i made the decision, thank you bro!!!

Good to hear that you made your decision, the moveset you want for Groudon is MS/EQ, best ground dps in the game and it is a beast in PvP.

I have it in my last slot in my main masters league team and with shields down it is a wrecking ball. MS charges so fast (among the fastest charging moves in the game in PvP) and it can quit litarally spam eartquakes. You could even make it better with FB or SoB but that is another expensive investment. I didnt do it yet, but it is very tempting.

Pros for Kyogre:
-PvE monster
-Best available water type
-Water type finds more regular use than ground

Cons for Kyogre:
-Lackluster in PvP due to slow charging fast move with high cost charge moves
-Predicted Hydro Cannon Swampert to come within spitting distance of Kyogre's DPS, though noticeably less bulky

Pros for Groudon:
-PvP monster
-Best ground type across all generations
-Serviceable "grass type" with Solar Beam

Cons for Groudon:
-PvE ground moves are bad in general; without a double weakness ground's role is better handled by other types
-"Grass type" role heavily diminished due to exclusive additions
-Garchomp to come within spitting distance of Groudon's DPS while also having much more staying power against electric types due to triple resistance

It's hard to pick between the two. Whichever one you should get I'd say primarily comes down to if you want something for gyms/raids (Kyogre) or PvP (Groudon). I like Groudon more than Kyogre but I've used Kyogre more than Groudon.

I'd say kyogre. It's much better over all. Groudon isnt what last month made it seem like it was. However if you plan to use a PvP one, I recommend buying a second charge move for it, powering a single one up and giving it a second move costs less candy than powering a second one up.

Though if you have more than one lucky slot remaining, i'd say try getting both. In PvP, blizzard on kyogre is also great, and Thunder hits other kyogre well. Groudon in PvP is good, but like giratina its strictly a PvP pokemon due to grounds terrible preformance elsewhere

Also I wouldn't give garchomp as much credit for PvP, as a lot of people, myself included, will likelt be holding off evolving for a while incase a CD moveset comes for it, so groudon likely wil remain ground king for PvP.

Consider Ray and Shadow ball Mewtwo if you lack either.

Otherwise I'd say kyogre is more useful for raids if you short man. Groudon for PvP. Whichever you like better otherwise. In the end - I'd guess you'll max both so either way you'll just save half Stardust on one?
