Luckiest Moments in PoGO

What are luckiest things to happen to you in Pokemon GO? For me, it has to be catching a 96% Mewtwo (15a 15s 13d) a month after I started playing, or getting a perfect shiny Smack Down Ttar from Community Day.

Without doubt, stumbling into a wild Dragonite without looking at nearby (before weather boost and TM). It was lvl 30, 15 atk, 15 def and 8 st with dragon tail/outrage.

Out of my 140 000 catches I have only got 9 wild Dragonite (actually 3 of them just occasionally spawned in front of me). The chance of getting lvl 30, 15 in atk and such good IV and the best out of six move sets, in addition, is very small. I tried to calculate it and ended up way above 1 in 100 million.

99k catches, seen one wild Dragonite that fled out of the second ball.

The probability of perfect level 30 Dragonite with the best moveset would be 1 out of 30*6*4096 = 737280, anything else is more likely if you aren't aiming at a specific IV combination.

Yes, about that calculation I made.
30*6*(16*16*2)= 98304 (16*16*2 being the part of having two 15 and one at least 8). That is the chance of getting one Dragonite that good. Then only one in 15000 I catch has been one (and I live in rather nice biom for dratini). Seems to be about one in a billion chance.

But chances of rare events is usually much bigger than it seems. There are probably thousands and thousands of similar "ultra rare catches" I could have done and felt extremely lucky. The one in a billion chance ONLY applies if I had sad beforehand "I really want to catch a Dragonite with these exact stats or better", not afterwards. I am very happy any way!

That's incredible! I've never even seen a wild Dragonite on nearby, only heard about them after the fact on Discord. What an experience.

Similar case - I've caught 5 wild Dragonite (+1 that fled), and my first one was a poor Steel Wing / Dragon Pulse 15A after like a month playing. Then TM's fixed all that.

But luckiest moment... I did an Absol raid and got a 98% shiny. Then another person from our raid group came late and I logged in with my son's account to help him beat it in duo... and got another shiny! What were the odds? :)

When Moltres first appeared I was only able to raid it once throughout its whole period. I did manage to catch it and, to my surprise and everyone's envy, it just happened to be perfect.
The only dragonite I managed to evolve before TMs had DC/DB.
My first perfect mon was a Lapras back when it was a god-tier defender and could reach 2.9K CP. It is now a double legacy IS/IB rarity.

I still have yet to see a perfect legendary, though I don't raid nearly as hard as some trainers I've met. It would be fun to raid Moltres, especially with it's double weakness to rock and the lineup of rock Ttar that I got from Community Day, but guessing that it's two weekends from this one, I probably won't be able. :/
I like Dragon Claw as a charge move from what I've experienced with Latios, being very smooth to use and one of only two three-bar attacks that can compete with the one- and two-bars.
My friend would be jealous of that second perfect, she loves Lapras.

Catching a shiny sableye 10 seconds before my phone shuts down due to low battery and registering an unkown later on the same pokestop.

Lowkey forgot Sableye had a shiny out, and that's only the second time I've heard of a non-event Unown catch.

Catching a 1000cp Murkrow with go plus.

In all seriousness, probably finding a perfect Dratini from the wild without maps or hints from other people. I remember standing there dumbfounded just staring at my screen for a few minutes after reading the appraisal.

I would probably do the same if I caught a perfect Dratini. I have a hard enough time getting them as is.

Catching a wild, perfect, fully evolved Dragonite.

Catching two perfect Zapdos in a row (last Saturday).

I've never even seen a wild Dragonite but I caught a wild perfect lvl 34 Ursaring with MC/PR about 2 weeks ago. Also managed to catch a shiny Omanyte and Kabuto about 10 minutes apart on the last day of Adventure week

My luckiest moments are getting a perfect squad squirtle out of 5 tasks I was able to complete due to rural location and not having much time to play. Obviously evolved it to hydro cannon blastoise. And the other lucky moment was just a day before, when I didn't have time to raid Articuno, except for one literally last minute raid. And I got a shiny out of that. And one thing I feel being lucky, though it cannot be counted as a one moment, is catching legendaries. I have +40 catch streak on legendaries, and still haven't missed a single one in a while.Of course I don't count breakthrough legendaries in. Shinies I do count in, but out of all the legendaries I don't have many shinies, so it wouldn't drop my streak under 40, even if I didn't count them in.

I'll go with today's luck. Trying some ultra friend trading, SD Tyranitar went from 2901 to 2994...now 14a/14/11 level 29 which is something to work with.

In general I've had awful luck compared to other players in my community. My crowning glory, however, is stumbling upon an Unown without aid of map or tip. I just pulled over at this random stop in a small town in the middle of nowhere on my way home and there it was!

The first September of Go's existence and catching a Chancey in the middle of a town square in a small city just passing through to avoid traffic. To make the story more interesting, I did not know a lot about Pokemon at all when I started playing so this was a mon that I had never heard of before. It was only a 75IV but it was lvl 27 and it became my first Blissey for nostalgic purposes and evolved with ZH/DG. Still the only Chansey I have ever seen in the wild.

On Zapdos day I caught the following:
-96% shiny (14/14/15 a/d/s)
-98% shiny (15/15/14 a/d/s)
-100% non-shiny (fiancee's account)

Zapdos day has easily been my hottest streak of legendary catches in a long time in terms of perfect/near-perfect catches. All of the above were weather boosted to sweeten the pot even further.

While less exciting but still something of a bragging right, I have a perfect catch streak of 11/11 for Regice, beating out my perfect legendary catch streak of 4/4 for Suicune (Mewtwo excluded because he's way easier to catch than the rest).

My 16th Mewtwo catch was 15a/14/15...then this past week my 17th throwing, 12 balls all pinap and 2206 fled. 16 for 17.

9/10 for Regice
7/7 Articuno
1/1 Registeel
6/7 Zapdos---3 shiny w/ 1 being 14a/15/15. All pinap, the one I missed was 1846.

Partial answer for my 23/25 is more balls (plus 3 shinies). I don't circle lock and I'm not particularly patient when throwing.

Mine was the first day Kyogre came out. I didn't do any research on him so I didn't know anything about him. I went to the raid and Kyogre was really far away when trying to catch him. 3 out of 14 people caught him. I caught him on my last ball and when I appraised he turned out to be 100% everyone lost their minds!

Did a Kyogre raid in the most recent return of the Blue Beast (along with it's purple shiny form). Won the raid, and got one with perfect IVs, and caught it. Another player there also got a perfect, and caught it.

I've caught four wild dragonites - my first one was in my driveway, when I was level 20 or so, and it was awful - level 6, 2/6/7 (ads), with Dragon Breath/Dragon Pulse. haven't done a thing with it, it might be useful to trade to someone - if the IVs go up, CTM it to Outrage and it would be a fun gym clearer (and of course, power it up to level 30 or so). Best wild catch was 12/11/5 at level 30, with DT/HB, went to Outrage on first CTM. I've powered it up to level 33, and gotten a lot of use out of it as the third Dragonite in, after my 98% and 96% (both hatched and maxed out).

Another lucky moment was when I had "Make three excellent throws in a row' research task three times, and then came on a Wailmer raid with two excellent throws in the bag. And I suppose 5 shines of 12 catches of Zapdos (13 raids) should count as pretty lucky, even though all the shines had lower IVs. Also went 10/10 with Regice, not that that gets me much, ....
